The Assembly Ground

Wed has unofficially become my favourite day of the week. Usually on Wed I would meet up with Dr Leslie Tay and all the Makan Khakis for a midweek makan session. When there is good food, there is a happy me. =) Everyone of us would pool together an amount of money where we will go to different eateries around Singapore to eat and catch up with one another. 2 weeks ago, the group of us gathered at Assembly Ground at The Cathay in Handy Road.

The Assembly Wagyu ($24)

One of my favourite during the makan session is the Assembly Wagyu burger. The juicy 7oz hand crafted wagyu beef pattie is topped with onion marmalade, arugula and vintage cheddar. It is then served with shoestring fries which are seasoned with some paprika to give a little bit of heat. Seriously I wasn’t expecting this from a cafe, as more than often cafe food tends to disappoint me.

Ragout of Beef with Rosti ($22)

The ragout of beef with rosti was well received by the group as well. The slow roasted augus beef is served with 62 degree egg, trio of mushroom, creamed spinach, cheery tomatoes and rosti!!!! From a conversation with the chef, we got to know that even for the sides like rosti have gone through various processes (too many steps that I can’t remember…*_*) before they are being served.

We had 3 other dishes but my favourites are the two dishes that are featured on this post. With Chef Freddy Ng who has years of experience working in fine dining restaurants, we can be sure to see more interesting dishes coming up. From what I understand, a new and revamped menu is on the way. I am looking forward to check it out soon!
