Woohooo~~ YUNNANS has recently opened it latest outlet at ION Orchard with an beautiful interior that is said to be a garden-within-a-restaurant. On top of that, there are outlet exclusive newly created Yunnan-style dishes with a modern take!
Inspired by a Thai salad, Pomelo Salad with Osmanthus Dressing ($10.90) is a good start if you are looking for something refreshing, light and to pique your appetite for the meal ahead. I like how there are fresh lily bulbs added which give the dish some crunch and sweetness. If you like lily bulbs, the new outlet also added them in for their Steamed Pot Chicken soup ($32.90).
Another of my favourite is the Braised Fish Maw with Porcini Mushroom ((Small $42.80, Large $52.80) . The fish maw is sourced locally and braised with wild porcini mushrooms imported from Yunnan as well as Yunnan Qiubei chillies. Yes, you heard me right. Singapore do produce local faw maw and this collagen rich dish has a nice gentle heat which made it best with a bowl of rice!
Lychee Prawn Ball ($20.80) is not just pretty on the outside, it is delicious. Each prawn ball is coated with rice puff to make it looked like a lychee. What you get at each bite is the freshness and the natural sweetness of the prawn.
Those who are looking for dishes to go with your carbs, Hotplate Milky Tofu with Spicy Garlic Sauce ($16.80) is addictive! The housemade tofu is so soft and literally melt in your mouth. Coupled with the mildly spicy garlic sauce, it is simply a pure bliss.
After having a heavy meal, the Beancurd Pudding with Brown Sugar is a welcoming dessert to round everything up. I like how is it so soft, silky and has a nice aroma of the brown sugar without being too cloyingly sweet. Mad love it.
