Jardin Afternoon Tea Sets from Salt Tapas & Bar (Raffles City ShoppingCentre)

One of the major problems I think many are facing during weekdays is the lack of places to go for high tea. I mean a place that serve decent food with nice ambience. Those with sub-standard food are not included in the list. Recently Salt Tapas & Bar has launched the afternoon tea sets that are available everyday! Before we feed our tummy, the afternoon tea set allows us to feast with our eyes. An edible garden was presented in a wooden tray with a chocolate soil, hand-moulded dark chocolate rocks and tree logs and edible flowers together with a mixture of 7 sweet and savoury items. Each set also has a personalised touch of having the name of the guest displayed on the front of each tray. So sweet, right?

The 120 seating bar-restaurant is located at Raffles City. In the midst of CBD but away from the bustle and hustle. There are different sitting areas to cater for everyone, be it the main dining room, at the bar, at the window or even alfresco dining while people watching.
Rose n’ Flames

Each of the Jardin Afternoon Tea Set comes with a choice between 3 refreshing tea-infused mocktails, or a selection of coffee and tea. My personal favourite is the Rose n’ Flames mocktail which is made with rose hip tea, ginger, lime and ginger ale. I like how bubbly and refreshing it is.

Adam’s Apple

Adam’s Apple is a concoction of Earl Grey tea, apple juice and green apple. This has a very fond and familiar taste which reminded both Phoebe and myself of Qoo fuji apple drink.

Berry Fruity

Berry Fruity is made with green tea, blackberry, mint and lime. Another refreshing drink which I think Nicole might like to add to her #pinkyeats list.

Jardin Afternoon Tea Set A comes with white coffee creme brulee, camembert with lavosh, Jamon Croquette, Kinako macaron, honeycomb cake, prawn taco and choc sable. I have tried high tea set else where with a similar price tagged to it, but I am very sure it wasn’t as good. With a price tag of $35 which consist of 7 items, a mixture of sweet and savoury dishes, I am impressed with the food quality. The Honeycomb Cake is crowned with honey chantilly cream and house-made honeycomb. I like how fluffy and light the cake is and overall it does not give me an overwhelming sweetness even when I eat it with honeycomb. Another of my fav is the Jamon Croquette which is smooth and creamy. The signature Prawn Taco doesn’t disappoint as well. With a crisp tempura prawn, punchy pineapple salsa and chipotle aioli, this is definitely a pleaser.

The highlights from Jardin Afternoon Tea Set B include the Pork Belly Slider which was sous-vide cooked before pan-searing it and paired with pickled cucumber, chilli and house-made slider buns. Set B has a strong play on the sweet items such as Raspberry Rhubarb Tart, a buttery tart base filled with raspberry rhubarb rose jam, pastry cream and fresh raspberry, and Matcha Orange Religieuse, a duo of choux pastries stuffed with matcha and Grand Marnier-infused custard.The purple Japanese sweet potato macaron totally stole my heart with that perfect chewy yet crispy macaron shell and the sweet potato filling with the right amount of sweetness. Overwhelming sweetness is a killer for most desserts and I am glad to say that none of the sweet items has this issue.  =)

Yes, there are 2 sets to choose from. Alternatively if you prefer to design your own Jardin Afternoon Tea set, you can select any seven from the fourteen available items at $45++ per person or simply add on any items to the set with additional $5++ per item. The Jardin Afternoon Tea Set at Salt tapas & bar is available daily from 3pm to 5pm. So don’t say I bo jio ah. It has been a while since I feel that it is a high tea set worth going with my girlfriends to spend the afternoon away catching up.
