Food has always played a huge part of my life. Hence I am so happy to know that bi-annual Singapore Restaurant Week will be starting from 22 October to 30 October! Woohoo! Specially for Singapore Restaurant Week, Mitzo Restaurant & Bar will be serving a special menu, Sugar & Spice; Everything’s Nice menu!
Breaking the conventional Chinese dining with a contemporary take on Cantonese cuisine and an artisanal cocktail programme, the dinner is served with an aperitif cocktail, Chinese Whisperer, to stimulate your appetite. Made using Vodka, lime juice, cranberry juice, fresh ginger and lychee syrup, Chinese Whisperer is both refreshing and has a perfumed lingering aftertaste. Love the lovely pink hue too!
No one should leave Mitzo without trying the Mitzo special barbecued pork (蜜汁叉烧)! Encased by a caramalised exterior, this char siew has the right amount of fats and lean meat. Trust me, this is easily one of the best char siew that everyone agreed unanimously!
Deep-fried soft shell crab with curry floss (奇味软壳蟹) was fried crispy with moist juicy innards and coated with fragrant curry spices and chicken floss.
Another delightful item to have but if you are allergic to shellfish, you can always request to change it to MORE Mitzo special barbecued pork!
I am a very “soup” person but I detest the fact that many places serve soups that are not hot enough! Not only was the Abalone red date soup with chicken and aged yellow cucumber (红枣老黄瓜鲍鱼炖鸡汤) served piping hot, it was flavoursome and encompassed with the sweetness from the ingredients used. So comforting can! Major love love
Next, we had the Braised half Boston lobster with noodles in spicy cumin (致然龙虾焖拉面) paired with
Asian Redux, an Asian version of a margarita with a clean savoury twist using Asian herbs and spices.
Topped with sea salt foam, aroma from fresh basil & kaffir lime leaves, hint of fresh chilli and sweetened with homemade ginger & lemongrass syrup, this cocktail is simply one of the best way to march into the mains!
Chilled almond longan tea served with bird nest (燕窝杏仁玉埔) was a beautiful way to end the Sugar and Spice; Everything’s Nice Dinner Menu ($58++ per pax/ $88++ per person with two cocktail pairing). Light on the palate yet packed with all the beauty benefits from the bird nest, lotus seeds and chinese almond. I can seriously do with more!
You can always chillax at Mitzo if you are in for some bespoke cocktails by Marco, the Italian chief mixologist. If not, just hop to the bar next door for some signature cocktails with fairies lights and chitchat under the stars.
