Whisky Live Singapore is back at its the 10th Edition this weekend! Same place but bigger and better than the one in 2018. Stay with me as I share some snipplets of this year Whisky Live Singapore.
Being Southeast Asia’s largest premier whisk(e)y and spirits showcase, Whisky Live Singapore 2019 is definitely not to be missed for any whisky or spirit lovers. This year, we see an enticing list of brands, masterclasses, collaborations and limited releases with opportunities to meet master distillers, brand ambassadors, industry experts and bar men from over 70 whisk(e)y and spirits brands and renowned bars through six immersive experiences.
Tasting Hall and Spirits Room (Entry with all passes)
Turning to your right once you come up of the escalator, this is where you will find yourself immerse in a haven with over 600 whisk(e)y and spirit expressions from more than 70 brands from across the globe. Yes, Whisky Live is not just about whisk(e)y, for Gin lovers like me, you can taste many different kind of gin in this Spirits Room. One of my favorite include the Mandarin Chilli Gin from Tanglin Gin which has a lovely citrus nose coupled with chilli and ginger to a slight tingle finish. For Tequila lovers, you can also check out Código 1530 Rosa which has an earthy note with light red fruit sweetness.
Moving on to Tasting Hall, you will be able to taste some great whiskies and spirits which include some of which haven’t been released in Singapore yet! Some of the whiskies to check out include Bruichladdich Laddie Scottish Barley which is made with 100% Scottish barley and has a soft malty notes married with touches of sweet cinnamon, red apple and white grapes, Amrut Single Malt, an Indian single malt which is distilled from barley grown at the North West of India and mature in New American Oak as well as Nikka Coffey Malt which is create in their Coffey stills. Yes, there is no coffee in the whisky neither is it a spelling mistake. Of course, there are more whiskies in the Tasting hall for one to try such as the ones from Balvenie, Glenrothes, Glenfiddich..etc so do remember to pace yourself as you don’t want to miss the VIP Area.
VIP Area (Entry with VIP pass only)
With more than 100 prestigious, new and limited releases of whiskies and fine spirits up for sampling within this exclusive area, this is definitely one area that any whisky lovers would love to be in. Some of my favourite include Glenfiddich 23-year-old Grand Cru which has a smooth sweet finish with layers of rich vanilla oak and luscious pear flavours, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel that has a lovely sweet vanilla and caramel note as well as Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu.
On top of that, you can also check out Ardmore 30-Year-Old and Glenrothes 30-Year-Old as well as the Artist #9 and Artist #9: Peaty, that are released by organiser La Maison du Whisky. Marrying the elegant world of art with the passionate craft of spirit making, the latest range will include expressions from Edradour, Glenburgie, Ledaig and Caol Ila, and bewitching artwork from renowned artists Bang Hai Ja and Wang Yabin on its labels.
Apart from that, one can catch the region’s best bartenders and enjoy signature cocktails at the Cocktail Terrace.
