When was the last time you visited Mount Faber? Beside the breathtaking sunset view overlooking the Habourfront precinct and Sentosa Island, Mount Faber also housed several hidden gems. Spuds & Apron is one of the restaurants under One Faber Group that is perfect for a romantic dinner or a lovely dinner gathering with your family and friends.
Offering the Singapore’s signature Chilli Crab and chilli crab sauce on a half baked potato, Chilli Crab in a Tux ($14) was good as the starter to whett your appetite for the night ahead! As the name suggested, the crispy salty skin gave an interesting textural twist to this popular Singaporean dish.
One should not miss the Sweet Potato fries with Sea Salt & Japanese Curry Mayo ($10) especially if you are looking for something light to munch while waiting for your friends to arrive. The sweet potatoes are softer and sweeter than the usual french fries.
For those who like your pasta to be al dente and served in an excellent white wine sauce, Pasta Vongole ($22) is definitely the pasta to go to. Not only are the clams fresh, they are cooked perfectly with each of them being so juicy and plump.
Oven Roasted Marinated Chicken ($19) was highly recommended for those who prefer chicken. The meat was tender and the Chef’s homemade brown sauce complemented the dish and made it more outstanding compared to many other places.
Gorgeous Beef Guinness (28) was my favourite at Spuds & Apron. The beef is firm yet succulent and all the flavours were really cohesive that the dish was like a melody in the garden.
BBQ Baby Back Ribs $26 was moist and well marinated. Although the seasoning was on the slightly sweet side, it was quite a crowd pleaser.
Don’t forget to save some space for dessert. Jar of Happiness ($11) was served with short bread biscuits, almond flakes, mixed berries, Haagen Dasz Vanilla ice cream and topped with warm berry compote.
One of my favourite dessert at Spuds & Apron was the Chempedek Bread and Butter Pudding ($12). I like how the warm bread and butter pudding was served with vanilla ice cream, the hot and cold sensation was like a party in my mouth. Those little bits of Chempedek have also given the dish a character of its own which differentiate it from the usual bread and butter pudding.
For a simple and romantic dinner, Spuds & Apron is definitely worth a try. Best of all, you can always take a slow walk around to enjoy the hilltop views or simply take a cable car ride back to Haborfront Centre to enjoy the beautiful night view around the vicinity..
If you have not make any plans for New Year’s Eve, how about a 4-Course Set Menu ($98++) which will be serving 100 metres above Sea Level on New Year’s Eve (31 Dec 2017)! Spuds & Apron is having this special 4-Course Set Menu ($98+ per pax) which will be served exclusively for one night with three dazzling fireworks displays at the stroke of midnight. Do check it out.
