Any crab lovers out there? As much as we wish that we can order an array of different variety of crabs for dinner, more often than not we ended up getting the safest choice that the most of our family members/ dining partners prefer. Haha. Fret not, as there is a crab buffet dinner (Return of the Battle of the Crab Dinner) is currently running every Thursday to Saturday at Spice Brasserie, PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road! Executive Chef Low Hoe Kiat draws inspiration from around Asia to serve up twelve different flavours of crustaceans!
Besides crabs, diners can look forward to an array of local and Asian cuisines such as assortment of fresh sashimi and sushi, the popular Teochew Porridge corner, cheese platter corner and a variety of salads and starters.
One of my favourite starter from the buffet line was the som tum inspired Baby Crab Salad with Green Mango. The refreshing combination of tangy green mango and savory shrimp paste dressing works perfectly well with the crunchiness from the baby crabs. Best of all, you get to DIY your own baby crab salad! So go on to add in more of your favourite ingredients. =)
On the buffet line, we saw classic favourites like the Authentic Singapore Chilli Crab, Black Pepper Crab, Salted Egg Yolk and Butter Crab..etc There are also a display of Chef Low’s new creations such as the Steamed Marinated Spicy Crab with Light Sauce, Stir-fried Crab with Jalapeño and Fermented Black Beans and Stewed Kimchi Crab.
Although classic combination has won my hearts, my vote would go to Chef Low’s signature Slow-braised Pumpkin Crab in Claypot if I can only choose a kind of crab to eat. The creamy golden-yellow gravy with a hint of asian spices is a winner for me. Give me some bread to go with it and I am willing to have it every meal!
Another highlight for me is the crab bee hoon which is made with a crab broth that has been simmered for hours.
What is life without desserts? Besides a DIY ice kacang station, there is an array of cakes, ice creams, fruits and even chocolate fondue.
Spice Brasserie is conveniently located near Farrer Park MRT and can accommodate up to 300 people. The Return of the Battle of the Crab Dinner is available every Thursday to Saturday (Adult:$75, Child: $34) till 13 December 2015. For UOB, DBS and Maybank card holders, you can also enjoy the buffet at $60 per pax (adult)!
So crab lovers, mai tu liao. Check them out before they are gone. =)
