Pullman Luang Prabang, a hotel stay to rejuvenate the soul

When I got to know that I will be staying at Pullman Luang Prabang, I was really excited as this low-rise resort with only 123 rooms, suites and a two-bedroom pool villa is one of the nested in the midst of 16 hectares of landscaped gardens, complete with reflective ponds, tumbling streams and working paddy fields! Afterall, I don’t get to stay in a hotel that is located in the former royal capital of Laos and a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage-listed city everyday!

Upon arriving at Pullman Luang Prabang, I was greeted with beautiful high ceiling and architectural style that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings.

Once you venture further in, this is where the reception as well as the check in counter is on the left. But what is about to welcome you on the right is The Junction Bar, a relaxing space that lead you all the way to the view of the resort’s own terraced paddy fields. This is where one can enjoy a cocktail or two or just lazing around with a book in hand. It is also good to know that the 1.3 hectares paddy field produces and supply rice for the restaurants and the recent 3.2 tonnes of rice harvested was distributed to the local community with the rice husks donated to MandaLao Elephant Conservation Camp as part of the CSR projects adopted by Pullman Luang Prabang.

On the right of the The Junction Bar, there is also a walkway that lead you to L’Atelier Restaurant. In the morning and during lunch time, one can feast with the wide selection on the buffet line of both local and international delicacies, there are also live cooking stations if you are looking to try some piping hot noodles. For those who are into organic food, the ingredients used are organic and from the local farms. Oh yes, don’t forget to try the cheeses on the cheese station as they are from Lao Buffalo Dairy Farm, a socially-responsible enterprise featuring homemade cheese and dairy products. For those who prefer food to be served to table, there is an a la carte menu available too.

If you are one who love to spend time by the pool, there are 3 inviting swimming pools in Pullman Luang Prabang! One of these even has a jacuzzi function for you to relax your body. There is also a paddling pool as well as a a waterslide to allow the kids to have a splashing good time. One thing that I really appreciate is there is a water station with fruit infused water to allow one to stay hydrated. If you are looking for something alcoholic, H2O pool bar serves cocktails, snacks, salads, sandwiches and desserts from 10 am to 8 pm.

For me, the hotel room is the king of all hotel stay. We stayed in the premium deluxe room which is 66sqm and it comes with strong Wi-Fi, 43” flat-screen TV, DVD player, Bose sound system, illy coffee machine and electronic safe. And that is not all!!! The bathroom comes with his and hers vanity spaces and a make-up mirror with lights!!! The room that I stayed also comes with the views of the paddy fields as well as a partial pool view. Am I blessed or what, some of friends have the views of the rolling hills and misty mountains. Oh yes, Major like how the temperature in the room cools down really fast with the ceiling fans and AC. So good to just slack in the the room and enjoy some music played over the Bose sound system. There are also ample of universal power point so there is no need to panic if you forget to bring your travel adaptor.

Within Pullman Luang Prabang, there is also a serene spa, a 24-hour fitness centre, a kids’ club and plenty of walkway for you to take a stroll. If you are not interested to walk, there is buggy car service to bring you to your next destination within the hotel. Overall, I have an enjoyable stay at Pullman Luang Prabang and would definitely recommend one to stay here if you are visiting this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city. Oh yes, did I mention that it is only 30 minutes drive away from Kuang Si Waterfalls?
