Woohoo! Wine Fiesta is back for its 9th year running. Presented by The Straits Wine Company, this is one of the largest annual outdoor wine festival in Singapore that any wine lover shouldn’t miss!
Ms Kathy Lim-Sheehy, the Group CEO of The Straits Wine Company, shared joyously that The Straits Wine Company is extremely excited to introduce a new culture of wine making to Singapore with this year’s theme, “Rising Roots x Celebrate Local Chefs and Produce”.
So what does natural wine means?
Although there are many interpretations, to The Straits Wine Company, natural wine is made with the least or no interventions. Leaving the wine making to nature is what sets natural winemakers apart. The beauty of natural wines make the differences between each grape variety more significant, require no filtration and minimum addition of sulphur during bottling! Sounds good isn’t it? It is like tasting wine at its purest form! Who is with me?
From the feedbacks garnered from prior years, this year food lovers will be thrilled to find 7 renowned chefs based in Singapore, Andrew Baldus from Meat Smith, Dave Pynt from Burnt Ends, Michael Lewis from Tin Hill Social, Petrina Loh from Morsels, Rishi Naleendra from Cheek by Jowl, Ah Boy from Good Chance Popiah and Wanthana Nikonsaen from Tamarind Hill each presenting three original dishes specially created with locally-sourced ingredients for this event! Wow! Can you imagine natural wines paired with this extraordinary selection of gastronomic delights? I am drooling with the thought of what is awaiting for us at Wine Fiesta!
The fiesta will kick off on 20 October, Thursday, with an exclusive Winemaker’s Table Dinner which will offer diners the rare opportunity to sample 75 iconic wines and vintages with the respective winemakers playing hosts at their tables. This will be complemented by dinner prepared by the participating chefs and The Fullerton Bay Hotel. Tickets for the Winemaker’s Table Dinner are priced at $228++ per person.
Besides sampling and buying wines at the event, you can also participate in any of the masterclasses focusing on different wine related topics:
Presentation by Sommelier Moritz who will tell us the differences between conventional and natural wine.
Wine and Food Pairing Masterclass presented by natural winemaker Jasper Button from Commune of Buttons, and Chef Dave from Burnt Ends.
Introduction by Chef Rishi from Cheek by Jowl of his organic and biodynamic wine list; presented together with natural winemaker, Taras from Ochota Barrels.
Showcase by PLUMM Glass Masterclass of different glassware that can bring out the best in your wine.
With the participation of 70 international wineries showcasing over 350 wines, I am sure everyone can find their glass of wine at this year’s fiesta! Simply sample, enjoy and buy your bottle of wine home with wine prices starting from $30. For Standard Chartered Bank Cardholders, there is a 10% off regular ticket price $50 and 10% off bundle ticket price $99 for 3 tickets!
