With 7 days to Chinese New Year, spring cleaning is at its all time high. Literally everyone I know is doing spring cleaning in one way or another. But don’t forget to plan for your reunion dinner. Afterall, this is not just any dinner but this get-together meal symbolises how the year ahead is going to be filled with prosperity, joy and peace. This year, Putien has prepared a list of set menus for dining in as well as Michelin delicacy for takeaway. Oh yes, Putien is an Michelin One-Star restaurant for its Kitchener Road outlet since 2016.
Toss to a year of prosperity with this simple yet satisfying Prosperity Yusheng ($29.80++ S, $39.80++ M and $49.80++ L). Yes, the yusheng is available for all the CNY set menus (from $108 for 2) .
One of the item that I most look forward to is the Peng Cai which is packed with luxurious rich ingredients. At Putien, this is “Pot of Goodies’ (Pot of Goodies with Abalone: 6pax/ $328++, 10pax/ $498++; Pot of Goodies with Sea Treasures: 6pax/ $248++, 10pax/ $398++) is available for both dine in and take away (3 days in advance order and collection before 3.30pm). What I really like about this auspicious pot is that it is laboriously prepared by simmering for more than 8 hours for that flavorsome thick gravy. Each mouthful is rewarded with the essence of all the rich ingredients.
Steamed Soon Hock which is available on the Prosperity and Plentiful set menus for 4 pax onward was fresh and well cooked. Lightly flavoured with the soy sauce gravy, this is a perfect dish for fish lovers as well as an auspicious dish to welcome a bountiful year.
PUTIEN Style Pork Ribs is not to be missed by meat lovers as the ribs are fork tender and well seasoned.
One of the must order at Putien is the Stir Fried Yam. The chucks of yam are deep fried till the innards are fluffy and soft before they are coated with a sweet and savoury finish. This item is also available on the ala carte menu so don’t miss this!
Lovers of vegetables will love Conpoy with White Mushroom and Broccoli as the broccoli has a lovely crunchy bite and coated with the gravy which is packed with natural sweetness from the conpoy.
PUTIEN’s Longevity Noodles is not just an auspicious dish which symbolises long life and good health. It is doused with a flavoursome seafood rich gravy and each mouthful is a gastronomical delight.
Wrapping up the meal, we had fungus Soup with Longan and Red Dates. White fungus is believed to be packed with collagen and the gelatinously soft texture paired well with the longan and red dates tea. So refreshing and nourishing that I don’t mind having another bowl.
Putien’s Chinese New Year dine in and take away menus will be available till 19 Feb 2019. Do book your table reservation early to avoid disappointment. Putien will be opened from 11.30am to 1.30pm on Chinese New Year eve and it is opened throughout Chinese New Year, except on 5 February 2019.
