The Famous Hongkong POPSICLES are finally here!!!! Conveniently located at 313 @ Somerset (llao llao), each milk based popsicle and fruit based popsicle are handcrafted! So no popsicle will look exactly the same. If that is not impressive enough, health conscious peeps will be glad to know that there are no added preservatives or colouring. There will be 8 to 12 flavours on display at any one time. Have you tried any?
For milk based ones, I have tried Strawberry Hokkaido Milk ($6.90), Cheesy Raspberry ($6.90) & Earl Grey Pistachio ($6.90). The Cheesy Raspberry has a subtle cheesy taste which made Elphin falls in love with it immediately. With fresh raspberry in the middle, it is both instagrammable and tasty.
As for me, the Earl Grey Pistachio won my heart. The prominent bergamot aroma in the popsicle complement the hand crushed U.S salted pistachios that were sprinkled a minute before serving. This is another classic example of how saltiness with sweetness work very well as a great dessert.
Another of my favourite is the Refreshing Kiwi ($5.90). The combination of using freshly sliced and pureed kiwi made me feel as though I was having a frozen kiwi. The tanginess works for me as I am someone with a soft spot for sourish stuff. Some of my friends find this a little too much for them. Well, one man’s meat can be another man’s poison.
Besides the above flavours, there are also a list of other flavours on rotating basis depending on the seasons of the ingredients available-
- Stinky Durian ($7.90)
- Creamy Mango ($6.90)
- Fig & Honey ($7.90)
- Lychee with Cherry Kiss ($6.90)
- Reach for the Stars ($6.90)
- The Super Food, Avocado ($6.90)
- Virgin Mojito ($6.90)
- Chilli Mango ($6.90)
- Straight Up Pineapple ($5.90)
One of the things that truly amazed me is that how every popsicle is personalised with different quotes on the ice cream stick that is being slowly revealed as you finish up the popsicle. The popiscles are also made using a quick freeze method which takes only 20 to 30 minutes with a special machine. Hence, you might find that the texture of the ice crystals are finer and more refined as compared to homemade ice pops. Although the price point is slightly steep but I feel that it is worth every cents spent for those flavours that I have tried. With the recent sweltering weather, this is definitely a big big saviour for me.
