Grissini at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel has launched new menu. Taking over the space where Pontini formerly sat, Grissini means “breadsticks” in Italian. Besides having heaps of natural lighting, the restaurant also has very lovely warm lighting, cosy seating and contemporary edgy deco.
For our pre-meal to start the luncheon, we had sour cream panna cotta with caviar and chives sprinkled on top as our amuse-bouche. It like how this little spoonful of ingredients are creamy yet balanced with a well rounder savoury note. This little teaser definitely made me look forward for the rest of the meal.
Tuna Tartare was more than just beautiful. Sitting on a bed of buttery and smooth avocado puree, the raw tuna that was marinated with soy sauce and paired very well with the every components on the plate. I like how the sundried tomato added some sweetness as well acidity to cut through the richness of the avocado.
Going on to pasta was equally impressive. The black ink tonnarelli was served al dente and coated nicely with in a tomato based sauce which was zesty yet all the different elements came together in the correct proportions. Each mouthful was packed with flavours and I like how the prawns has a nice crunch as well as the wild Mediterranean langoustine served with the body de-shelled.
This is a dish where the Josper oven did its little magic. The skin of the seabream fillet was crispy while the fillet was perfectly cooked with the moisture retained. Paired with Sicilian caponata, this is an enjoyment fish item on the menu.
To be honest, I am not someone who has a huge appetite. By now, my tummy was bursting. But when the Chocolate Bonet was served, I can’t stop. There is a perfect balance in this pudding and the different layer of texture from the crumble sitting below and the strawberry at the sides. It also has a lovely aroma of the almond from the amaretti cookie.
