It was one of those days that some of my foodies friends decided to catch up for dinner. As we are all craving for claypot rice, we ended at one of the foodie heaven, Golden Mile Food Centre.
Hehehe sorry to disgress a bit. Before the gathering, I actually went over to Tanjong Pagar Plaza to get some mini tarts and eclairs from The Confection Connection for the group. I have always enjoyed the play of different local flavours of the mini tarts and eclairs at The Confection Connection and I wanted to share my love with the group. Priced at $1.20 to $1.40 per piece, these are really quite an affordable treat! Some of the group favourites are the Ondeh Ondeh Eclairs, Lavender Cheese Tarts, Lychee Eclairs, Matcha White Chocolate Tarts and Mango Passionfruit Eclairs.

Besides claypot rice ($17), we also ordered the Bak Kut Teh and Braised Pork. While the claypot rice has a nice char with generous ingredients such as chicken, chinese sausages, salted fish and vegetables, we thought that the bak kut teh and braised pork were quite lackluster and bland. A fellow blogger friend and I unanimously agreed that we prefer the one at Holland Village.

They said good food are worth waiting for but the hungry group of us decided to do some food hunting while waiting for the claypot rice (30 minutes waiting time or more is way too long to wait for us…lol). Although the rice is not very aromatic, the tender juicy chicken made up for it. For those who prefer to eat more “solid” rice, I think you will be thrilled to find the rice is just like how you like your rice to be.

Somehow we were still hungry and not feeling satisfied, so Kevin introduced us to Mr Baguette‘s bowl pasta ($2) and lava filled baguette ($1.80). These are really good and affordable. I like how generous the fillings were. Some of my favourites are the Black Pepper Carbonara and Red Velvet ones. I love how I can find pieces of macaroni in those savoury bowl pasta. Do give them a try and see if you like them just like I do.

What is life without dessert? We ended our night with Mango Sticky Rice ($6) and Durian Sticky Rice ($6). We loved the durian sticky rice and you can literally heard us saying “shiok ah” as we feast on this delectable thai dessert. However the mango was a tad too sour that day. Ahhhh coming to Golden Mile always make us miss Thailand more. Can’t wait for my yearly BKK trip in Jan 2017!
