Opened in the last Quarter of 2017, Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena is no stranger to the residents of Novena. Not only it is conveniently located near Novena MRT station, it also housed Sky22, the hotel’s all day dining restaurant, and Urbana, the highest rooftop bar in Novena. Besides rewarding diners with a fantastic panoramic view, how is the dining experience here? Stay with me as I share more.
As we walked into the restaurant, Sky22, we like how we were greeted by the beautiful views around Novena from the floor to ceiling windows. I can bet with you that during the daytime, Sky22 is a bright and beautiful space with ample of sunlight pouring in.
The dinner buffet ($48++) selection was relatively sufficient with variety from bread, salads, pizza, pasta, Asian inspired specialties such as Hakka Braised Pork, Penang Char Kway Teow with Crispy Baby Squid and many more.
Instead of going for the buffet, we started our meal with Prosciutto & Belgian Endive Salad ($22) and signature ‘Nasi Ulam’ Wild Rice Salad ($22). We like how Sky22 had a twist on a traditional Malay dish by featuring some really TENDER charred octopus. Prosciutto & Belgian Endive Salad is definitely a good alternative from the usual Caesar Salad as the caramelized Fig and fire-roasted Japanese pumpkin added so much natural sweetness to this beautiful starter.
Oh yes, Oven-Baked Camembert Cheese ($18) was very well received with everyone around the table. Remember to eat the portobello mushroom, arugula walnut pesto and grilled sourdough slice together with the cheese for the burst of different flavours in your mouth.
If you are dining with several friends, don’t forget to order the Singapore Chilli Crab Pizza ($26) which comes with a punch to wet your appetite for the meal ahead. The homemade pizza crust also added some textural bites to this fiery dish.
If you are looking for some white meat, check out Pan Seared Red Spotted Grouper($28). It was perfectly cooked and served with mildly spicy sauce.
Iberico Pork ($36) got us all excited with that moist and soft bite. Oh yes, your worries for that porky smell were invalid. This dish was a good example of how a perfect pork dish should be and the sides that accompanied complemented the dish and made it such a delight to enjoy.
Do save some space for Sky 22 Tiger Prawn Laksa Lemak ($24). This elevated asian affair has a rich yet satisfying mildly spicy broth and was served with huge Tiger Prawns, quail eggs, tau pok and fishcake. I can easily finish a whole bowl without feeling overwhelmed. I kid you not, this bowl can easily be one of the better laksa around.
Sky 22 Bubur Cha Cha Cup ($12) was another interesting twist from the usual local dessert. Besides those soft cubes of sweet potato and yam, there are banana, pandan jelly and sago to give a different dimension to this sweet treat. This signature dessert was served with a scoop of coconut ice cream in contrast to its hot counterpart.
If the night is too young after the meal, head up to level 33 where Urbana is located to enjoy the panoramic city view. There is 1 For 1 Happy Hour promotion with all drinks going at 1-for-1 (bottle sales are not included) from 5 to 8pm daily.
