Wooohoo~~ It is finally Friday. How about celebrating Friyay at Chimi’s with Corona Extra’s little brother, Coronita, as well as indulge in some CoronaRita. Yes, you heard me right, Coronita as well as CoronaRita, a frozen Margarita with a mini Coronita at the heart of the CBD area.
I am a tad slow, perhaps some of you might already been regular here at Chimi’s at One Marina Boulevard! Chimi’s is basically an Al Fresco Mexican Cantina with breathtaking views and breeze (especially after 6pm, it is very breezy) while you let your hair down and enjoy some Tacos or Quesadillas paired with Margarita, Coronita or even a CoronaRita.
Menu at Chimi’s is rather straight forward. Lunch is from 12pm to 3pm where you can get a healthy bowl or burrito at $9.90 while Dinner starts at 5pm and the menu consists of bar bites, nanchos, tacos, baby chimichangas…etc
But what caught my eyes are the Happy Hours! Monday is 3 for $18.80 ( choose from wine, beer and spirits), Tue is oyster for $2 each as well as 2 for 1 Margarita, Wed is ladies night and alcohol at $5 each is quite tempting, isn’t it?
Half a dozen of oyster for $20 is definitely a must order as the oysters are super fresh, creamy and briny. Oh yes, did I mentioned that they are huge (size of my palm) and the ones at Chimi’s are freshly shucked daily!
I love Nachos and it is hard for me not to order it at any Mexican eatery. The ones at Chimi’s come with a choice of either paleta beef or chipotle chicken ($10) and loaded with freshly diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeno, guacamole and a smooth, creamy sauce over a bed of tortilla chips. Now, give me a Coronita and I will be a happy girl.
If you are looking for something more substantial, the baby chimichanga ($12) will be a good choice to order. Cousin of the burrito, it is actually a tortilla wrapped round a filling of your choice (steak or chicken) and rice, deep fried and served with salsa at the size. I kid you not, it is very filling!
For people who are just looking for a light bite, please order the Cauliflower Quesadilla ($14). It is one of my favourite item which I almost polished everything on my own despite having to eat 2 oysters, half a baby chimichanga and some nachos! Yes, I like it heaps. The texture of the cauliflower is just nice with some textural bite and it is flavoursome. So much so that I could not even taste any “rawness” which most non-cauliflower lovers would complain about. So do give it a try if you are here ok.
Last but not least, don’t forget to wash all the food down with some CoronaRita or Margarita! Personally, I like that the Margarita at Chimi’s as it is well balanced and without that strong smell of the tequila. But does it mean that the alcohol level is not as strong? Of course not, I heard that 2 is enough to let you fly. lol
