Antoinette’s renewed French bistro-style all-day menu

Although Antoinette is known for its really amazing cakes, do you know that the French bistro serves really decent mains as well? In the month of May, Antoinette will be launching a renewed French bistro-style all-day menu with new savoury items.!! Stay with me as I share more on Chef Pang’s latest creations at Antoinette which includes both sweet and savoury Souffle Pancakes!!!

If you are cheese lover looking for light bite, Schiacciata ($18) will be a satisfying meal as the house made flatbread is stuffed with then camembert, pecorino and truffle. The crusty bite is then served with petit salad, sunny side up and honey on the side to give you a sense of complete meal.

Wagyu Beef Cheek Tagliatelle ($28++), is one of the new addition on the mains menu. Made in house, the tagliatele has a nice firm bite and complemented very well with the soft and tender Wagyu beef cheek that is braised for 6 hours.

Upon tucking in to French Chicken & Sausage Casserole ($24), I feel as if Xmas is here. This Classic French country style casserole is very comforting and I would definitely be back for this on a rainy day. The Toulouse sausages and braised chicken are cooked together in a tomato-based stew with cannellini beans and wine before adding some parmesan bread crumbs and broiled. Oh yes, the pomme puree on the side is so smooth and buttery that perhaps 1 portion is not enough for any potato lover.

On the seasonal menu, one can find this really lovely Crispy Pork Belly Confit which is cured then confit in duck fat for a day, before pressed to shape and fried over low heat to get that crispy finishing on the rind. Although apple is a classic pairing with pork, I like how smooth the apple puree is and with that touch of acidity to cut through any sense of greasiness.

I have always welcome the idea of sweet and savoury food as I found them highly appealing. Hence, I delighted at Antoinette’s savoury variations of the soufflé pancakes. Btw, there are a total o f 5 sweet and savoury options. For the savoury ones, try Forestiere ($16) if you are a mushroom fan as the creamy mushroom sauce with huge chunks of button, shimeji and shiitake mushrooms is to live for. For something more classic, there’s the Benedict ($18) which is served with an omelette, slices of serrano ham and house made Hollandaise sauce.

To appeal to the lovely people with sweettooth, there are 3 options of pancakes available – Trés Berries ($16), Ondeh Ondeh ($16) and Crème Brûlèe ($16). My personal favourite is the Ondeh Ondeh ones which is served with a pandan custard made using REAL pandan leaves, gula Melaka syrup and coconut powder. For those who cannot take too much sweetness, do request the gula melaka to be served on the side. As the serving is relatively big, do grab a few friends to share the calories so that you can try a few more new items on the menu.

Oh yes, not to forget the 2019 cake collection from Antoinette. Fluffy ($13/$49/$98) totally surprised me. I thought that since there is a white white chocolate mousse, it should be overwhelmingly sweet. BUT it is not. In the middle of the mousse, there are kirsch-soaked almond genoise, strawberry crémeux and a thin layer of passionfruit lemon jelly which balanced the overall taste. Hence, this is one of my favourite for this year collection!

Antoinette New menu 2019-53

Another of my favourite is the instagram worthy Earl Grey Bubble Tea ($9/$42.50/$85) which is inspired from Chef Pang’s love of bubble tea. The earl grey-infused ogura cake is topped with a thick layer of salted cream cheese Chantilly and sprinkled with mango cubes and tapioca pearls that are steeped in Okinawa black sugar. I like how you can have different textures and flavour in one beautiful creation which is just perfect to end any heavy meal on a sweet note.

If you are looking for some cakes to go with your tea during the afternoon, Kyoto ($9/$42.50/$85), Bananier ($9/$42.50/$85) and Velvet Rouge ($9/$42.50/$85) are perfect. Kyoto is made with Hojicha mousse over a thin layer of orange confit and topped with a soft finger sponge made with
Okinawa black sugar, black sugar crème Chantilly and a sleek layer of glaze.

Antoinette New menu 2019-48

Bananier ($9/$42.50/$85) is a marriage of a smooth dark chocolate mousse and banana flambéd with rum and in between there are layers of milk chocolate feuilletine. This is the cake if you are looking for both flavours and textures.

Antoinette New menu 2019-46

If not, you can always pair your tea or coffee with Velvet Rouge, Chef Pang’s rendition of red velvet cheesecake. I like how there is a layer of walnuts chocolate fudge cake sitting on below the cheesecake and salted caramel crème chantilly to add more bite to the cake.

Antoinette New menu 2019-12

Oh yes, don’t forget to try the Prescription ($12) too. It is actually a very good houjicha latte served with fairy grass and okinawan syrup. I like the strong aroma of the roasted tea as well as how I can customise the sweetness according to my liking.
