The Imperial March. The orchestra theme songs for Jurassic Park, Star wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones are a single masterpiece created from a combination of instruments under the guidance, leadership, innovative composer and conductor John Williams, which has gone on to serve as a symbol of their respective films for decades.
What I had at Aloha Poké was the single masterpiece created from individualism that has different purposes and flavors on the taste bud under the guidance and supervisory efforts of the Executive Chef of Aloha Poké Michael Yonathan and the management. As Chef Yonathan said “Having fantastic sauce is not enough, if the salmon isn’t fresh, the entire bowl of Poké is spoiled. Every ingredient plays an important role in a bowl of Poké.
Before I begin. Let me sidetrack a little. Since it was during the last days of the Chinese New Year, we did a customary toss of the Lo Hei, to indulge in the tradition and for the fun of it, with the fresh salmon added into the dish. Done and made by Chef Yonathan. Right!! Back to my point
In my own bowl of Poké consist of a salad base and dressing, an original and spicy salmon with cherry tomatoes, dried cranberries and pomegranates. The first spoonful of Poké, which I personally chose and customized, introduced to my palate was a symphony of flavors playing about on my taste bud creating a sense of intimacy and familiarity as though I’ve been eating this for years, which I have not. The juiciness of the diced salmon marinated with their respective secret sauces, original and spicy, engulfed my entire mouth with savory flavors that will be hard to forget in days to come.
Now you might ask what am I trying to say here….hang on…..hang on
Okay. Digest this…
Its their wide range of individualism that goes on to create a combination infused into a single masterpiece. Each ingredient contributing their own unique flavors without compromise but a compliment for each other, emitting a strong harmony and rhythm that flows through the taste bud fluently and the flavors lingered on till the next day.
From my conversation with the founder / boss John and Chef Yonathan I realized one thing….
There’s a conscientious effort by the team to ensure whatever they serve are the best. For example the refrigerators are custom-made, specifically designed from those refrigerator found in Japanese restaurants, to ensure the salmon and tuna remains fresh upon serving. A deliberate strive to ensure the finest quality in their food which is a dedication rarely noticed by customers.
So for those who seeks for another alternative to their healthy diet. Aloha Poké is worth considering. With six outlets concentrated around the central business district, there’s plenty of options to choose from. What’s more Aloha Poké has takeaway containers which are convenient and tidy unlike other takeaway containers that I’ve come across.
And for those who are unwilling to queue or rushing to go back to work. Not to fret. You can jump the queue during lunch hour. All you have to do is to download the menu and email them by 3 pm the day before and they guarantee you will be able to pick up your order 11.30 am sharp the next day. But of course minimum three bowls per order. There are three sizes.
– Lil’ Swell (small) : $11.90 – 1 scoop of Poké
– Standard Nalu (medium) : $15.90 – 2 scoops of Poké – my bowl was of this size
– Big Kahuna (large): $19.90- 3 scoops of Poké.
On a personal note and if you have the time. Carefully read the menu and not to rush you way through so as to ensure you will not miss out the specials or other bits of information. But of course if you are rushing, ignore this.
