Growing up, I have always love to drink BRAND’S Essence of Chicken. I am elated when I get to know that STREET 50’s executive chef has collaborated with BRAND’S Essence of Chicken for this Chinese New Year menu at STREET 50. Wah.. Not only can we drink essence of chicken, we can also eat it as well! Even the EssenceTIAL Yusheng (精’玉满堂鸡精鱼生 which symbolizes tossing ‘To Infinite Abundance and Luck’) is paired with BRAND’S Essence of Chicken aspic for us to usher into the Year of Fire Monkey with prosperity and wealth. On top of that, diners stand to win $200 worth of BRAND’S® Hampers!
Without a doubt, for CNY, all the dishes have very auspicious names accompanying them. Sixth Happiness Seabass in Essence’ (六六大顺精目鲈) is a dish with steamed seabass fillet, carrots pearl, barley, green zucchini pearl, yellow zucchini pearl, white fungus and chicken essence. While I find the broth a bit bland, the seabass was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed my daily dose of fibers in the form of beautiful pearls.
One of my favourite is the Fortune Chicken with Essence Consommé’ (精鸡报喜富贵汤). Yes, herbal chicken steamed with old ginger, chinese wine, dried longans, red dates & chicken essence!
Even salad has become more atas with the Essence of 8 Treasures Platter’ (八宝鲜味精典盘). Spotted was pacific clams, prawns, smoked oysters, sea asparagus, U.S asparagus, black fungus, and roasted pine nuts paired with essence vinaigrette. There are even black moss (“Fatt Choy”) in the salad that assure you will huat huat huat.
For carbs lover, there is crisp Hong Kong noodles with yellow chives, mushroom, crabmeat, chinese mushroom & lily bulb in essence stew (Seventh Heaven Crabmeat Noodle in Essence Stew’ – 七星报喜精选蟹面). Apart from the above dishes, there are another 20 auspicious dishes at the buffet counter with the chef pan frying nian gao at the live station!
