As we approached the season of giving, I bet many of you are still having a headache of what to get for your loved ones. One of the areas that is on my mind when it comes to shopping is definitely Orchard Road. Besides being the tallest vertical mall that housed brands such as Desigual, Levi’s, Nike…etc, Orchard Central also has a huge diversity of F&B outlets located from basement to the top level, level 12. I kid you not, there are more than 30 F&B listings in this spectacular mall! Walk with me through my blog post as I take you on my food trail at Orchard Central
Located at Basement One, Maccha House has been known for its wide variety of maccha desserts and beverages. For the month of December, Maccha house has launched 2 Christmas Exclusive sets. Yes, not 1 but 2 Christmas sets. 
Accompanying the White Chocolate Maccha Tartlet ($9.99) was a serving of maccha soft serve, salted caramel sauce and walnuts. The white chocolate maccha tartlet was a tad too sweet for my liking. But then again, I am not a huge fan of anything with white chocolate as I have always find white chocolate too sweet. So I guess I am not the best person to review this white chocolate tartlet. However, the maccha soft serve was amazing! The texture of the soft serve was smooth and with every mouthful, the aroma of the maccha lingers. Best of all, the sweetness of the soft serve is just right. It is almost no brainer to guess that it was well received by everyone around the table.
Given its location, I thought that the Christmas Chirashi Don Set ($16.99) was super value for money. Besides a bowl of Chirashi Don filled with toppings such as avocado, carrot, lady’s fingers, egg, maguro sashimi..etc, a bowl of chicken yuzu soba was served as part of the set too. I like the tangy yuzu flavour that lingers in the soup broth. Amongst the two of them, I would definitely give my vote to the yuzu soba as it feels very comforting to have one of these during the recent rainy weather. The Christmas Chirashi Don was served with a tad too generous serving of vegetables. Nevertheless, good for those who are looking for your daily serving of fiber.

The first time I stepped into Lady M at Orchard Central, I was mesmerised by the elegant, clean and white interior. The 2,940 sqft duplex storefront has 4 different seating zone to cater to different customers. I have always wanted to get a booth seat along the stairways but i was never as lucky. So I was rather happy when we were given a booth seat.
This Christmas, Lady M introduces the Lady Baltimore cake which will be exclusively available from 19 December to 26 December. I was lucky to get a preview of this beautiful cake which was dressed in fluffy white meringue frosting and topped with glints of silver dragees. In the middle of the light and fluffy sponge cake, rum soaked dried fruits were spotted with the vanilla custard. 
Do not misunderstood this cake by its look. It is not too sweet and it pairs well with a cup of tea. What a bliss to enjoy this cake while you let the time slip through. 
Advance order of Lady Baltimore is available on Lady M’s website at $85 for a 9 inch whole cake with 3 days advance order. If not, you can always savour this cake at $9 per slice at Lady M Orchard Central from 19 to 26 Dec. 
We have also tried the Couronne de Chocolat (9 inch whole cake – $70, $7.50/ slice), which is only available till end of December, and the signature mille crepes ($9/ slice). Any lovers of chocolate out there? The chocolate sponge cake is alternated with layers of rich dark chocolate mousse and finished with a coat of chocolate ganache and chocolate crumbs. Drooling much? Amongst them, the signature mille crepes stole my heart. The mille crepe was quite mind blowing. Each layer of the paper-thin crepes was painstakingly made so equally and evenly. I like to eat it layer by layer together with the light pastry cream that was spread onto the crepe. Yumz

After having so much sweet stuff, we welcomed savoury food with open arms. At Dean & Deluca on level 4 of Orchard Central, we have Roasted Angus Beef ($18) with mashed potato and caramelised brussel sprouts which is part of the Festive promotion. For $18, you can get to enjoy either the 3 hours Roasted Angus Beef or the Maple Glazed Salmon Fillet with a choice of 2 sides. Although the caramelised brussel sprouts were not very visible in this picture, it was really addictive. I think I can live with eating that everyday. Among the 2 roasts, the group of us have unanimously agreed that the Maple Glazed Salmon Fillet was one of the highlights. The salmon was perfectly cooked and served with sides of balsamic mushrooms and pumpkin salad. With the sweet and packed with umami maple soy glaze, we wiped this thoroughly clean in no time! Secretly I do not wish to share this dish with anyone. I want all of it. Yes, it is that good and worth every cents spent.
Lovers of rainbow cake will also be thrilled to find that DEAN & DELUCA is serving RAINBOW LOG CAKE ($78) which is exclusively served only in the Singapore outlets. No longer would you be bored at looking at those single coloured cross-section of the log cake. If this doesn’t please you enough, you would want to know that each colour is presented to you with different flavours. Grapes, apple, strawberry, orange…etc take your pick and enjoy the distinct different flavour from each colours.
I have always thought that DEAN & DELUCA is a cafe till I stepped into the outlet at Orchard Central. Besides having an extensive menu serving a variety of gourmet fare such as soups, salads and sandwiches as well as an all-day breakfast menu, DEAN & DELUCA is also a retailer of gourmet and specialty food, premium wines and kitchenware. 
People can also shop for festive hamper, festive gourmet or even gift vouchers in the store.

Our last stop of the day was at Cold Stone Creamery where we enjoyed a mini performance by the energetic crew before our ice cream was served. One of the crew would throw the ball of ice cream to another crew who would catch it directly into the homemade waffle cup. 
Besides the festive ice cream flavour, Merry Minty Xmas and Passionfruit Wonderland, those of you who are looking for Ice Cream Cakes would be thrilled to find 3 ice cream cakes available for this Christmas, Minter Paradise ($58), Berries Perfection ($58) and Jolly Holly Chocolate (S-$49, L -$85).
We have tried the 2 festive ice cream flavor and the Jolly Holly Chocolate ice cream log cake which was made from chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake, chocolate ganache and chocolate shaving. Among them I like the Passionfruit Wonderland the best as it has this tartness from the passionfruit mango ice cream and it paired well with the chocolate shavings and cranberries.
