The Chinese name of Xin Cuisine’s lou hei totally got me! Xin’s Gold Leaf Salmon Yusheng ($68, $88) has a beautiful name of 风生水起 which means prosperity in everything you do. But the beauty of this yusheng didn’t just end at its name. As part of the Chinese New Year Blissful Banquet Menu at Xin Cuisine, this yusheng is packed with textures and flavours.
There is also another more atas rendition – Salmon and Tuna Yu Sheng with Fish Skin ($78, $98). Shaped into a cute looking pig with Kumquat Sauce as dressing, this refreshing yusheng is also available for takeaway. oh yes, there is also a vegetarian option ($48, $68) and if you order online before 31 January, you get to enjoy a 20% early bird discount! This special promotion is available for both delivery and pick up. =)
For those who prefer to dine in, this contemporary Cantonese restaurant is located at Holiday Inn Atrium level 4 and has private dining rooms if you prefer a more cosy time with your family.
One of the items that is not to be missed is the Roasted Duck ($58 whole, $32 half) at Xin Cuisine as it is roasted with Tea Leaves which gives it a very beautiful aroma. This item can be spotted on the Trio Barbecued Meat Platter ($30, $45, $58). While the Crispy Roast Pork has a lovely crackling skin, Glazed Barbecued Pork loin is tender with a beautiful char finish and the Roasted Duck is without saying my favourite for its juicy meat and glittering well roasted skin. The marinated jellyfish and baby squid are good starters for the meal too.
Nourishing the body, we have the Double Boiled Matsutake with Hashima in Clear Soup. This soup is served piping hot and packed with the essences of the ingredients from cooking them for hours. This is also my first time having Hashima in a savory form but it was highly acceptable as Hashima is generally tasteless on its own. What I like is I get the beauty benefits of it while enjoying that bowl of soup. Hello diong diong skin!
Xin’s Abalone Treasure Pot ($288, $428) is one of my favourite item on the menu as it is packed with luxurious ingredients such as 10-headed Whole Abalone, Superior Fish Maw, Sea Cucumber, Dried Scallop, Marinated Soya Chicken, Roast Duck, Roast Pork and Prawn layered with Flower Mushroom, Black Moss, Ling Zhi Mushroom, Radish, Lotus Root, Baby Corn, and Dried Bean Curd Skin beneath. Besides this, there is a vegetarian version, Vegetarian Deluxe Treasure Pot ($268, $368) as well as the Supreme Braised Buddha Jumps Over The Wall ($388, $688) is available for takeaways.
Available on the Blissful Banquet Menu ($398++ for 4 Persons) and Double Happiness Menu ($598++ for 5 Persons), the Wok-fried Glutinous Rice with Chinese Sausage and Preserved Meat is one item that allow me to eat my carbs willingly. The dish consists of top quality Glutinous rice and it is prepared in such a way that each grain is well cooked yet separated from each other. Infused with the aroma of chinese sausage and preserved meat, this is highly addictive!!!
Oh yes, remember to leave some space for dessert. Mango Pomelo Sago with Dragon Fruit and deep-fried Xin’s Nian Gao from the lunch menu (from $428++ for 5 Persons), Bountiful Treasures Menu (from $538++ for 5 Persons) and Flavors Of Abundance Menu ($1298++ for 10 Persons) is super instagram worthy. Served on a bed of dry ice to create a perfect foggy effect, the mango pomela sago is refreshing and light while the red date nian gao is soft and chewy with a good textural bite from the assorted nuts.
