During my trip to Shenzhen in January for Avatar: Discover Pandora exhibition, I had some free time to explore the city. Hence, when I get to know about the opening of Muji Hotel Shenzhen, without any hesitation, we made our way there. Getting around in Shenzhen has been very easy with their taxi services with the flag-down price of 10¥ and from Sheraton Futian Shenzhen to Muji Hotel Shenzhen cost us 17¥ (est. $3.50SGD).
The reception area of Muji Hotel Shenzhen is located on the second floor of the NEW UpperHills multi-use complex (深業上城) with most of the shops in the shopping mall not opened yet. But I have spotted a few branded shops.
There are 79 rooms located within this new hotel and the reception area is huge with some seating on the left side and the lift lobby on the right side. Oh yes, don’t forget to take some ootd (outfit of the day).

The hotel also has an umbrella for loan service for the hotel guests should they need an umbrella.
As we have our accommodation sorted out at Sheraton Futian Shenzhen, we can only explore the hotel and its facilities that are opened to the public. From what I understand there are a gym and a library with a collection of over 650 books located on the third floor of the complex. From the public toilet, one can experience some of Muji products such as the handwash, air purifier that are sold in the Muji Store located next to the hotel reception. Oh yes, I need to share that how I love the heated toilet bowl and washlet. It was such a comfort to enjoy during the cold winter. hahaha
Spread across 2 levels, Muji Store Shenzhen is one of the largest MUJI stores in China. Not only can one find travel essentials, there are also everyday products such as furniture, kitchenware, stationary, books, food, clothing from kids to adults, cosmetics and skincare! There are also MUJI YOURSELF, a customised embroidery service for your items, Embroidery Workshops, Printing and even Custom-made MUJI Curtains service available.
One can also enjoy their meals at the Muji Diner which opens from 6am to 11am from Sunday to Thursday and from 6am to 12midnight from Friday and Satursday. Although I have not tried the food here, some of my travelmates who had tried, said that the matcha latte was decent.
So is Muji Hotel Shenzhen a must visit in Shenzhen? I would think that it is worth a visit if one is a huge fan of minimalism and is in Shenzhen with some free time on hand.
