8 NEW Things to do in Genting Highlands

Whenever people mention about Genting Highlands, it was usually associated with adult gaming. But in the recent years, Genting Highlands has gone through a major revamp and it has so much to offer youngsters, adventurous souls, shopaholic like me as well as people with families. Today I am going to share about 8 new things to look forward to in Genting Highlands.

1. Skytropolis Funland
I was very excited when I first heard that Resorts World Genting’s indoor theme park is finally back after a major revamp. While the former one was a tad dated, there were some good old memories made. The indoor theme park is currently known as Skytropolis Funland and it was soft launched in December last year. Besides those adrenaline packed rides, the 400,000 square feet indoor theme park also includes Asia’s first The VOID hyper reality centre, BigTop Video Games Park, children friendly rides as well as the soon to be opened Imaginatrix, a venue where physical rides meet virtual reality. Some of the rides includes introducing Power Surge, Disco!, Sky Tower, Spin Crazy, Bummer, Boo Boo Bumper, Tea Cups and Balloon Race but not to worry, as the rides in the theme park are categorised into 3 different tiers of adrenaline rush (Child, Family and Thrill) to suit the different individuals. While the Pay-per-ride ticket costs RM10 on weekdays and RM15 on weekends, I thought a better deal would be to get the Skytropolis Funland Preview Pass at RM60 for UNLIMITED RIDES. There are also some bundles that are bundled with The Void, SnowWorld and SeniKome Péng Hēng (Arts & Cultural Centre).

2. The Void
Have you ever wonder how is it like to be disguised as stormtroopers in Star War (RM130)? With the custom VR technology along with physical stages at The Void, you can now experience it for yourselves. While handphones and cameras are not allow, I assure you this is one of the best reality experience which none of them are needed as the Star Wars universe comes to life right in front of your eyes. For those more daring one, Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment (RM90)is something that you do not want to miss. The timid cat in me refused to go for this as I have heard it is really very scary for any faint-hearted ones. Other multi-sensory VR experience includes Ralph Breaks VR (RM130) and Ghostbusters (RM90). Do give it a try as it is not everyday that you come across the the first and biggest VR centre in Asia and out of North America with cutting-edge technology and world-class content.

3. Eagle Landing Zipline
If you are one who is not afraid of height and would appreciate the beautiful neon lights across Skytropolis, try the Eagle Landing Zipline that is located on the fourth level at the west wing of Sky Avenue. The 200m zipline is one of the longest in a shopping mall in Malaysia and offers to send you across the east side of the mall with the speeds of up to 25 km/h. I guess it is one of the fastest way (within a min or 2) to cross over to where the new circus-themed arcade, BigTop Video Games Park, is if you are too lazy to walk over. The tickets are available at RM31 for one rider, RM25 for two riders and RM19 for 4 riders with a certain weight and height limit applies for participants. But well, if someone like me who has acrophobia (fear of heights) can do it, you can do it too. Life is as such that we often can do more than we thought we can. Challenge your fear and you will find that the fear you had is not that scary after all.
