Some of you have been asking me where to stay in Yogyakarta (aka Jogjakarta or Jogja) when you saw all those beautiful pictures that I have taken in early Oct. As I have extended my trip so I have stayed in 2 different places. Allow me to share with you the first accommodation, Limasan 514, that I have stayed during the trip.
First and foremost, the location!!! Limasan 514 is located in famous Prawirotaman area aka the hipster neighborhood where one can easily find pubs, eateries, cafes and Tempo gelato shop in this district. Yet the home stay is away from hustle and bustle of the city as it is located in one of the alley. But not to worry, there are street lights and the alley wasn’t very dark at night.
I really like the fact that there are heaps of greenery in this homestay. It really made one feel very relaxed and much at home.
Once you enter Limasan 514, it is hard to miss the heritage house which is served as a communal area for you to eat, chill or just relax on the hammock. Oh yes, there are books that you can feel free to browse too!
Upon checking in, you will be lead to your room where you will have a key to open the door. Note that I say key not card. This is much like staying with a friend so please don’t expect to have hotel key card and such. But I assured you the room is spacious and clean, the bed is comfortable and toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, toilet paper and towels are provided. But remember to bring your own toothbrush and shaver.
Besides providing the basic necessities, the host is very friendly and you an literally ask her anything in English. Yup, the host, Bulan, speaks very fluent English and is a very bubbly girl who is super hospitable.
Places of interests in Jogya such as the Keraton Yogyakarta, Taman Sari…etc are about 1km away and one can find much privacy at Limasan 514 as there are only 5 rooms available. Oh yes, not to forget there are wifi access and heaps of instagram worthy places around! If you are looking for a no frills accommodation in Jogya which is clean and accessible to cafes and even places of interests at less than $60 per night, this is definitely one of the option that I would highly recommend.
