Friends who know me knew that food is my poison to my diet plan. I love to eat and I got a weakness for afternoon tea. Recently, V Dining has introduced a new monthly high tea menu by new Pastry Chef, Joe Leong. So how can I missed it, right? Not to forget that beautiful view along Scotts Road.
The high tea is priced at $58++ per person with a serving of coffee or tea and is only available on Saturday & Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. For tea lovers, you will be delighted to find a good selection of tea from Tea Forte. Beside English Breakfast, Earl Grey and Chamomile Citron, there are also unique concoctions such as the Green Mango Peach and Ginger Lemongrass. If you are in the mood for some bubbles, you can also opt for the set which comes with a serving of Duetz Champagne. For more bubbles, it will be $18++ per additional serving of champagne.
I was told that the menu will change every 6 weeks. For now, the afternoon tea was themed as The Taste of Asia. Hence, one can expect familiar taste that we have grow up with but with an unique and modern twist. Some of the savoury items served include Chicken Rice and Beef Rendang. Besides the Chicken Rice, my favourite got to be the Arctic Clams with vermicelli as it douses with a well balanced acidity to prepare me for the decadent afternoon ahead.
When the desserts were served, my eyes were fixed on the Pandan Kaya Swiss Roll and Salted Egg Cream Puff as well as the Black Sesame Macaron. These are all so ASIAN and pretty. Chef Joe has indeed done a great job marrying the aesthetics and the flavour.
One of my favourite was the Tropical Verrine which made with mango compte, coconut mousse and passionfruit cremeaux. I love the texture as well as the burst of fruity flavour in the mouth.
Last but not least, we had some homemade scones with 3 dipping sauces to round up the afternoon tea. The homemade marmalade won my heart and it paired very well with the raisins scone.
Oh yes, if you are one who enjoy to watch how the chef prepare your food, V-Dining as the the first ever fine dining restaurant by V-ZUG has an open kitchen concept to allow you to see the chef in action. Besides high tea, I feel that V Dining is also a great place for date night, business dining and small gathering. As the restaurant only has a seating capacity of 35 pax, do remember to make your table reservation before heading down.
