I used to hang out with friends around boat quay during my younger days but I hardly go around this area till I heard about Tian Tian Fisherman’s Pier Seafood Restaurant. Unlike what you might think as those restaurants that will be touting for business along this stretch, Tian Tian Fisherman’s Pier Seafood Restaurant serves fresh seafood with unique and innovative cooking technique.
It is not very often that I have seen a Patin fish on the menu of a restaurant, Braised Wild Patin Fish with Golden Soup in Claypot ($68++) is Tian Tian Fisherman’s Pier Seafood Restaurant’s unique rendition of this fish. I am always quite skeptical about Patin fish as it is a freshwater fish and often has a distinct smell which I don’t fancy. However, the one at Tian Tian Fisherman’s Pier Seafood Restaurant has no smell and has a very soft texture.
Coupled with the golden broth that is made using dried scallops, chicken and over ten different kinds of natural spices, it feels really nourishing. Oh yes, the fresh shrimp balls that comes together in the dish is to live for! I like its bouncy qq texture!

For those who like those crusty edges from claypot rice, Tian Tian Fisherman’s Pier Seafood Restaurant’s Pan-fried Guo Ba
with Glutinous Rice ($38++) reminded me of that. The mix of pearl, glutinous and five grains rice are cooked with Chinese sausage, diced mushroom and chicken making it really flavourful and fragrant. Then the rice mixture is then cooked till nice and crispy before it is served.
Flying Noodles with Chilli Crab ($88++) is not just an instagram worthy dish. The Hong Kong noodles are skillfully deep fried in such a way that it is suspended in the air by a pair of hanging chopstick. At the bottom of the plate, you will find a juicy and succulent Sri Lankan crab meat blanketed with a thick, sweet and spicy Chilli Crab Sauce. While I really like the deep fried Hong Kong noodles, I would prefer the chilli crab sauce to be more spicy. However, if you are one who doesn’t really take spicy food, this is perfect for you. Alternatively, you can also try the Flying Noodles with Seafood (S$38++) which is more pocket friendly.
Fried Spicy Crab in Authentic Bi Fen Tang Style (S$88++) is one of the favourite dish around the table as it is packed with unami! The Sri Lankan Crab are first deep fried to golden brown before it is stir fried with generous amount of spices such as minced garlic, minced ginger, chilli padi, green onions, dried salted radish and dried red chilli powder.
Another highlight of the night was the Tian Tian Steamlicious Set. We had the Steamlicious Set Menu C which is now having a promotion of $29.80++ per pax (U.P. $56++ per pax) with minimum 2 to dine.
This set consists of fresh seafood such as US live oyster, wild live prawns, live lala clams, fresh fan scallop and mini octopus. There are also golden mushroom rolls, handmade HK fish balls, steamed sliced chicken with mushroom and black fungus, steamed luffa and vermicelli with dried shrimps. Additional portions of seafood and meats are also available for order between S$10 to S$68.
After all the fresh ingredients are cooked with the high temperature steam, the essence of the cooked ingredients are collected at the bottom of the pot. It is then cooked in to a poached fragrant rice with grains and diced chicken. You can also choose to top up extra to get the lobster and make it into a lobster poached rice!
With the high temperature steam, the nutritional value of the ingredients as well as the flavours of seafood are being retained. Hence, the poached rice has a natural sweetness and it is very hearty. So do remember to leave some tummy space for it.
