Did anyone notice that Centrepoint shopping mall near Somerset MRT has recently undergone a revamp? Gone were some F&B anchor tenants like Macdonald! But you can expect more from the brand new Food Hall and the food and beverage enclave – Gastro+. Besides some familiar names like Din Tai Feng, Crystal Jade Kitchen, Chicken Up, Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, and international brands such as Mak’s Noodles, Honolulu Café, Royal London Duck,…etc
Good news for my friends working in Orchard, you have more choices available for your lunch! Last week, I had lunch at Tensho, another F&B concept by the peeps behind MOF selling tendon made ala minute.
Tensho is located at basement one where the former Cold Storage was.
It has adopted an open concept dining experience where diners get to see how the Chefs prepare their food.
Currently there are only 2 kinds of tendon on the menu – Vege Tendon ($13.90) and Mixed Tendon ($14.90).
But each Tendon is served with a Chawanmushi and a bowl of miso soup. There are also a choice of upsizing your rice by topping up $1. While my dining partner was having Mixed Tendon, I had the Vege Tendon. We were both elated to see an onsen egg tempura in the rice bowl. However, to our disappointment, the onsen eggs were overcooked.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of the mixed vegetable tempura as it was a tad too oily for my liking.
But I like the fact that there are free flow prickled vegetables that can help to cut the oiliness.
Overall, we felt that the Mixed Tendon is more value for money. But we would prefer our rice to be less mushy.
Currently Tensho is running a promotion. With every tendon ordered, there is ocha ($2) on the house. Have you tried Tensho? Share with me how you feel about it. =)
