Face it people, with Covid 19, there is no way that most of us can travel to Japan to experience this year Sakura season. But guess what, you can actually experience this much-loved spring season at 2am:dessertbar with Janice Wong’s new Strawberry Sakura High Tea which is running for 4 weeks from 6 March till 4th April.
I kid you not, this is as close as you can be to this year’s sakura as fresh Hanami Sakura flowers are specially flown in from Nagoya Japan weekly for guests to enjoy during this Sakura gazing high tea.
We were served with Compress Korean Strawberries with Sweet Milk to start the afternoon tea. This item is an inspiration from Janice Wong’s childhood where she was given sweet milk to go with her strawberry as a kid. This combination is totally brilliant as it enhances the sweetness of the strawberry and make it very delightful for anyone.
The High Tea set also includes the Strawberry Kakigori, Strawberry Tart, Strawberry Green Tea Monaka, Strawberry Mochis and Kakigori, Strawberry Basil mousse cake, Strawberry Sakura and Sakura Caramel chocolate bonbons and Ichigo Daifuku.
The only savory item on the high tea set is the Gyozas with garlic aioli which I enjoyed as it has a lovely crispy edges, juicy innard as well as a creamy and flavourful aioli to compliment with it.
Strawberry Sakura High Tea at 2am:dessertbar is priced at S$49.50 per pax, with a choice of coffee or tea.
A list of small selection of cocktails and drinks is also available for you to pair with the afternoon tea as well.
