Woohoo popular NY Night Market from Seoul has arrived in Singapore at Westgate shopping mall! If you have not heard about this fast food chain in Korean, NY Night Market is literally the Korean’s interpretation of the street food commonly found in New York!
Taking over the space where Smoothie House used to be, this 44-seater restaurant was designed to resemble a grungy American dive bar with raw cement walls emblazoned with the silhouette of New York City’s skyline and USA flags strung overhead along exposed pipe features.
Waterfall Cheese Shrimp ($13.90) is one item that you should not miss if you like the idea of sautéed shrimps and cheese fondue sauce. This is definitely instagram worthy and worth the calories with some vegetables bed to make this a less sinful dish!
As a huge fan of mac and cheese, how can I not order M.A.C feat Bacon ($10.90)! Creamy melted cheese sauce with some perfectly cooked macaroni, crispy bacon bites and those deep-fried thin potato strips simply made it such an irresistible dish to chase away any blues!
If you like potato and yet don’t want to load on the carbs, check out Rosti & Beef ($10.90) which was made from scratch using finely-shredded Russet potatoes, pan-fried till golden-brown crisp and served with bulgogi (Korean BBQ) beef.
Instead of frying the steak, Finger Steak ($14.90) was pan-seared beef ribeye steak and served on top of a bed of broccoli, sliced king oyster mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and onion. Oh yes, that knob of homemade gorgonzola butter did the magic for me. It was a perfect pairing with the steak if you are a blue cheese lover.
Cream the Curry ($13.90) and Pasta de Dakgalbi ($16.90) are great options if you are looking for something more filling. The combination of beef, topokki (Korean rice cakes), red curry and whipped cream worked. The homemade whipped cream lighten the texture of the red curry and make it more addictive to have. Remember to order a beer (or maybe 2) to quell the heat if you are having Pasta de Dakgalbi as it can be a tad too spicy for some to handle!
Overall, NY Night Market is a fuss free eatery to go to if you are looking for some comfort food to go with your beer and alcoholic drinks while being soaked in the New York City Vibes. For a while, it will bring you and your friends out of Singapore while having a good time bonding.
