Mitzo festive 5-course menu

As we approach the end of the year, there is no better excuse than now to celebrate the wonderful year that we have enjoyed with a calories worthy meal. One of my favourite chinese restaurant, Mitzo at Grand Park Orchard, has launched their festive 5-course menu created by Executive Chef Nicky Ng recently.
Mitzo Xmas-3
First and foremost, let’s cheer to a beautiful festive cocktail created by Head Bartender Azlam Kadir. Santa’s Roots is its name and true to its name, it has a prominent note of ginseng. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits of the roots are well known to many and can be found in a lot of tonic soup. Surprisingly, infused in buffalo trace bourbon with cinnamon and concocted with licor 43, chocolate bitters, lemon juice, goji berry syrup and egg white, it is refreshing, balanced and very festive welcoming. My dining partner adores it! oh yes, this cocktail is available from Sunday, 1 December 2019 to Wednesday, 1 January 2020, at $18++ per glass. So you gotta catch this within the month of dec ya.
Mitzo Xmas-6
The Appetiser Platter featuring Truffle with Sesame Mayonnaise Prawn, Pomelo Lobster Claw and Mitzo’s Signature crispy Roasted Pork Belly. These savoury dishes are perfect starters to whet the appetite and great for people who are looking for a variety when they dine. My personal favourite is the Truffle with Sesame Mayonnaise Prawn. The prawn is first coated with a thin batter before deep frying them and coated with the aromatic truffle and sesame mayonnaise before serving. I like that it is cooked just nice with a light crunch upon bite.
Mitzo Xmas-9
Nobody should left Mitzo without having a soup. As a contemporary Cantonese restaurant, the soup is always served piping hot! Oh yes, the Pumpkin & Scallop Soup with Caviar is totally living up to Mitzo’s name. The soup is so rich and creamy without one feeling jelat and the scallops are super fresh and sweet. Very beautiful pairing I must said.
Mitzo Xmas-12
As I am avoiding beef in my diet, I get to choose either a fish or a pork dish. As a cat in my past life ( I anyhow said one, cos I love fish), fish is a great option for me. The Steamed Sea Bass with Red Yeast and Garlic is so good. The large white flakes are packed with omega 3 that melt in the mouth and paired with the condiments on top of it, it is a burst of flavours!!!
Mitzo Xmas-15
If you are a beef lover, you can choose Mitzo’s Festive Wagyu Beef Cheek instead of the fish. The fork tender beef cheek is slow-cooked and mixed with garlic, dried chillies and a hint of Sichuan peppers. According to my dining partners, the heat is very subtle and came much later after you have enjoyed the flavoursome meat in the mouth.
Mitzo Xmas-22
Though I am not a huge fan of turkey, the Black Pepper Turkey Fried Rice surprised me. This is a perfect example of delicious turkey meat and grounded black pepper working cohensively with intense “wok hei” flavours! I also love the addition of the rice crisps which gives the dish that nice layer of textural bite.
Mitzo Xmas-31
Rounding up the meal on a sweet note with the Coffee & Coconut Granita with Caramel Jelly served with Custard Sesame Pancake. This is like fireworks during National Day that give the meal a final surprise and highlight. Very well executed!

Overall, it is a very hearty and awesome meal. So how much is the damage? Mitzo’s Festive Set Menu 2019 is going at $88++ per person with minimum of two to dine. The set menu will be available from Sunday, 1 December 2019 to Wednesday, 1 January 2020. Do keep a lookout for it.
