I always have a fond memory of Swensen’s as during my younger days, Swensen’s was a very popular eatery among my friends. Few weeks ago, I was invited to a media tasting at Swensen’s for Q2 of the SG50 menu.
To celebrate SG50, Swensen’s has launched a year long SG50 menu with dishes to be launched on a monthly basis. Peeps can now look forward to some of the popular dishes with a twist of the local flair.
We started the tasting with the SG50 Lobster Roll ($21.80), which is only available in the month of April. This popular crustacean dish is back with a punch. Instead of the mayo dressing with the lobster chunks, Swensen’s did it with a local twist of combining the lobster chunks with local’s fav – chilli crab sauce! Definitely an elevated version of the chilli crab, at least I don’t need to dirty my fingers while eating it. 😉
For the month of May is BBQ Boneless Chicken ($14.90). The boneless chicken thigh is marinated with pineapple BBQ sauce and grilled with a little bit of char. With buttered potatoes and sauteed vegetables on the side, this is definitely value for money.
For the month of June, there is Fried Crayfish ($15.90). The crayfish is encased in golden breadcrumb batter and served with a bowl of chilli crab sauce and fried mini mantou.
Besides the SG50 menu, Swensen’s is also having Ciabatta Tea Set for $5. Yes, you heard me right. It is $5 for 3 ciabatta rolls with honey buttercream and free flow of tea/ coffee. It is available during weekdays (excl. eve of and on PH) from 2.30 to 5pm. So now you know where to go if you want to chill during weekdays afternoon. Don’t say I bo jio ;P
There are more than 20 Swensen’s outlets in Singapore. So do check out their website for the outlet nearest to you if you are interested to try their food. But if you are going for the ice cream buffet, it is only available at Ion.
