It’s not wrong to say that Toa Payoh is a place filled with good food. Ever since I started working here, I am so blessed to be able to have yummy food for lunch almost every weekdays! By chance, I stumbled upon Seletar sheng mian mee hoon kway stall in Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Market/ Hawker Centre which has a long queue behind the stall.
The stall is opened from 6.30am to 2.30pm only and closed on Wednesday and Thursday. The nearest “landmark” would be Melben Seafood which was diagonally opposite the hawker centre.Something I noticed that is different from other mee hoon kway stall is that their dough is slightly on the yellowish side.
Although I saw many ordered the soup ones, I decided to try the dry version one to see what is so special about the mee hoon kway here as it comes with the soup on the side. The dry mee hoon kway comes in 2 sizes- $3 (small) & $4 (big). Mine is the $3 one and it is rather generous with the ingredients such as prawns, sliced pork, minced meat and vegetable. What I really like about the mee hoon kway here is the chewy (QQ) texture of the mee hoon kway and the chilli with tinge of the hei bi hiam ( sambal dried shrimps) fragrance that seriously made this a very hearty lunch to have. On top of that, the crispy ikan bilis added the extra oomph to the flavoursome mee hoon kway. For $3, I found my simple happiness, what about you?
