I was once told that passion could bring me nowhere but whenever I see people pursuing their passion, it warms my heart. Last week I was invited to a media tasting of a new waffle kiosk, Hvala Waffle Bar, located at 313 @ Somerset. It is run by 2 young passionate couple. Instead of the usual round or square waffle that I struggle to finish on my own, Hvala offer waffle sticks which I can easily finish 2.
So how much is the waffles stick? It really depends whether you want to get creative by choosing your own topping or just choose from the existing flavours (Fruitalicious / Timeless Dessert). A plain waffle cost $2.50 and you can top up for the toppings or sauces.

| Smurfy S’mores ($3.80) |
We ordered a Smurfy S’mores from the timeless dessert section. It is a plain waffle served with chocolate fondue, flame-torched smores and graham cracker bits. We love the overall taste of this. It is not too sweet and all toppings come together quite well.

| Berries Delight ($3.80) |
From the Fruitalicious section, we ordered the Berries Delight. It is a waffle stick, topped with pastry cream, greek yogurt sauce and mixed berries. I would recommend this to people who like a bit of acidity in their food.

| Soft Serve ($3) |
We have also tried the soft serve topped with maple syrup. I like the fact that it does not melt easily (it is still standing tall after multiple shots taken) and it is also not too sweet nor milky. If you like to have it by the side with your waffle side, it is additional $2.50, a saving of $0.50 as compared to ordering it separately. 🙂
Overall, it is decent waffle serving at an affordable price. Although it is not the crispy kind of waffle, it is freshly made on the spot. So if you are nearby, do give it a try. I like how the waffle stick is cut into bite size to make it easier to have it on the go. Currently it is only Benmin and Lynette working so the waiting time might be slightly longer during peak hours. However for the love of freshly made waffle, why not?
