Located on the 43rd floor of Ocean Financial Centre, Zafferano holds the panaromic city view of Marina waterfront and at dusk, one can be mesmerised by the beautiful sunset. Like a sleek retreat in the centre of the business district, Zafferano offers a haven to enjoy contemporary Italian cuisine with warm, attentive service while away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Recently, Zafferano introduced the Sunset Dining, a three-course culinary experience from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, priced at $55++ per person.
The Sunset Dining menu offers diners a choice of starter, main course and dessert – modern Italian classics with seasonal ingredients from Italy.
Complimentary homemade bread was served as we started the first course of the Sunset Dining Set. I like how the bread is served warm and the hints of Italian herbs simply got me excited for the starter that was awaiting.
For starter there is a choice of 2 dishes. Trota Rapanelli Melograno Uova Di Quaglia Caviale which is trout cured in house served with red radish, pomegranate, quail egg, caviar. The presentation of the dish compliments with the taste of the dish. Hence, making it a delightful starter to have.
Aragostella Arancia Anetobaby was another great starter to end a day of hard work. The baby lobster bisque was painstakingly prepared by roasting the lobster head for about an hour before cooking it with tomato sauce to make a double reduction. The result was a bowl of umami packed lobster bisque.
For mains, there are 2 choices too. You can choose either the homemade cavatelli or the beef tagliata. Cavatelli is actually a pasta from southern Italy which required a lot of skills to make. From what I understand, this is also a dish that Chef Marco has put in a lot of effort to master just as how his grandma has done it. The cavetelli was served in a white wine sauce and generous serving of prawn, cod fish, octopus and crab meat.
My favourite amongst the 2 mains is the Manzo Sedano Rapa Carciofi, a slab of sirloin grilled to medium rare and served with celery root puree, sauteed artichokes and veal jus. How I love the celery root puree that is so smooth and creamy. Yum yum!
A meal is never complete without desserts. Again, there are 2 choices available. If you prefer something rich and creamy, choose the Caramello Frutto Della Passione Lampone. A creamy caramel cream glazed with dark caramel dome served with raspberry coulis, passionfruit jelly, dark chocolate tuille and chocolate crumble. So pretty and delectable la. Please save some space for it!
Alternatively, you can get the Gelati Sorbetti which is more refreshing and light. There is a choice of three flavours (strawberry, peach, lemon) of the freshly made ice cream and sorbet to choose from. My vote goes to the lemon sorbet as it has a balanced acidity which I thought it served as a nice palate cleanser to end the night.
Don’t forget to take a step back to relax and enjoy the beautiful night view of city skyline while you are at Zafferano. It would definitely brighten up your night and let you forget whatever negativity that has happened during the day. =)
