I have always love birthday celebration as it is the perfect excuse to catch up with friends over food. For the last birthday celebration, we found ourselves back at Bedrock Bar & Grill located near Somerset MRT which is known for its awesome grills. As opposed to the frontage of Bedrock, once you walk through that long aisle, you will be greeted by a warm cosy ambiance.
We like how the Caesar Salad ($22) was lightly tossed with the salad dressing. The white anchovies provided some saltiness and was thoughtfully separated from the baby cos for those who might find anchovies fishy.
The Black Truffles ($16) were served with shaved Parmesan cheese. There is no complaint with the perfectly fried shoestring fries. But we do think that it is kind of pricey and would suggest to top up another $4 for the Mac n’ Cheese instead.
Close friends would know my love for Bedrock Mac’ & Cheese ($20). I adored the al dente pasta which was generously coated with cheesy sauce. The charred mozzarella cheese gave this creamy richness more textural bite which was rather addictive for any cheese lover out there. This is the kind of dish that I would spend even my very last cent just to have it! Yes, it is that good!
Well known for its steaks selection, we zoomed into the Australian grass fed Porterhouse (500g – $89). The quality of the steak was good and it was cooked to the perfect doneness that we wanted. However we have the common consensus that we have had better ones.
Applewood Grilled Chicken ($38) surprised us with its tender and juicy meat. Paired with roasted celeriac, white truffle butter and roast chicken jus, this dish left us feeling happy and satisfied.
Free Range Pork Porterhouse ($59) was the dish that made us went back to Bedrock again and again. We were impressed by how perfectly cooked this loin chop was. Slightly pinkish, moist and with the right amount of fats that leaves you feeling satisfied yet without being too overwhelmed by it. For a non lover of pork, this is a dish that I thoroughly enjoyed as it does not has any porky pig smell. I think it is best to go with Bedrock chilli oil ($4) which has a nice peppercorn aroma and gives the pork an extra oomph.
Lastly we ended the night with Bedrock Black Forest ($18) and a birthday song to wish the birthday trio a wonderful year ahead. We like how the conventional black forest dessert was elevated with the deconstructed plating. Though the chocolate cake was flourless, it was moist and of the perfect level of sweetness. One of the birthday boy particularly liked the brandied cherries and had finished all of them. lolOverall, it was a great dinner gathering over delicious food. There was in fact no misses except that we have higher expectations for the steaks. Thanks to Entertainer app, we got to enjoy one for one for the mains we ordered. Thus making the bill easier on the pocket. With the great service from the crew, I guess it made it a perfect excuse for us to go back soon again. OMG, the craving for Bedrock Mac n’ Cheese hits me again. T . T
