Recently, I have ventured to the Eastern part of Singapore. Gosh, am I glad to find this really cool place that served up delicious Indian spread and interesting western food. Stay with me as I share with you more about B4R (aka Bar at Katong).
Located at 362 Tanjong Katong Road, B4R adapted an open dining concept with an extensive menu on both food and drink. If you are into beer on tap, there are 4 different beers (Carlsberg, Kronenbourg 1662, Kronenbourg blanc and Asahi Black) for you to choose from.
To be frank, I am very skeptical whenever I see an extensive menu. However, I was happy with what I have ordered. Don’t forget to go for the Garlic Prawns ($10), flavoursome, fresh and succulent prawns that any resistance is futile unless you don’t like garlic.
Garlic Parmesan Chicken ($10) is one great option if you are looking for a bar snack to go along with your drinks. We like the well marinated juicy chicken wings and drumlets that were encased with the thin and crispy batter.

Another dish from the new western menu that one should at least try it once is the Chicken Tikka Pizza ($15). Chucks of moist and spiced chicken laid on the bed of thin pizza crust which is so addictive that you can’t help to reach out for another slice. The pizza is good for 2 to 3 to share if you are not very hungry.
While the western menu serves up several great items, one cannot miss having the Indian cuisine if you are here! While the Chicken Tandoori ($13) is bursting with flavours, it is still not dry nor parched! How not to love it, right?
Another item that stole my heart was Mutton Bryani ($14). The rice was perfumed with the indian spices with medium pungency and the mutton was tender and gaminess was at its minimum!
Some other popular items on the menu are the Butter Chicken ($12), Vegetable Vindoloo ($8) and Chilli Prawn ($15). But for those who are not good with spiciness, beware of Chilli Prawn! This is the dish that got us down with at least a mug of beer! While it was really hot, one of my fellow diner found it to be very addictive too!
Another way to combat the spiciness is to order those made to order naan. Trust me, you would not want to miss these flatbread! They were soft, slightly chewy (in a good way) and paired with the spicy food perfectly.
B4R is definitely a place to go if I am in the east and looking for a place to chill with great indian food and a drink. I like how chillax the ambiance is and somehow it made me feel as if I am not in Singapore. lol
