I don’t really eat a lot of fast food but once in a while I enjoy the convenience of having a fuss free meal. Do you know that there are more than just Uncle M & Uncle K around the island. Let’s walk with me to some of the establishments.
Smacked right in the middle of Orchard road area, behind Cineleisure, is where Fish Tales is located. The owner of Fish Tales aims to provide an affordable and yet tasty fish & chips in Singapore. Hence Fish Tales was founded. 
Besides the usual suspects on the beverage menu, there are 4 different kinds of Italian Soda (Tropical, Peach, Blackcurrent & Green Apple) and homemade beverages such as iced milk tea, iced honey lemon and iced lemon tea. 
The extensive menu includes items from Fish Tales’s Original Fish & Chips ($7.90) to Grilled Fish ($9.90) to Sambal (chicken) Cutlet ($8.90) to Squid Ink pasta ($9.90) to small bites such as Mozzarella Cheese Sticks ($4.80) and Mid-joint Spicy Wings ($3.80). Diners can also top up $3 for a choice of soft drink and chowder of the day or top up $6.80 to get the former ones with ice cream included. =)
There are also promotional student set meal available. Simply flash your student card to enjoy a bowl of chowder of the day with a sides of mashed potato puffs and a choice of mains (Original Fish & Chips or Cheese Karage Pasta) for $6.90.
GST or service charge? No, there isn’t any! =) Value for money much, right? Next time, you know where to go if you are in town and wanted something fuss free.

Recently, the weather has been rather cold and this made me craved for something hot and soupy such a bowl of clam chowder soup. Awarded with Nation’s Best Chowder for 3 years in a row, American chowder house Seattle Pike Chowder was brought in by Giojio Concepts. The famous chowder house shared the same space with Giovanni L, an award winning gelato from Europe, in both the premises in Marine Parade and in Fort Canning Arts Centre. 
There are 6 different kinds of briny chowder to choose from and you can also opt to have them in a bread bowl. Yes, get the bread bowl (starting from $12.90) to go with the chowder! It was freshly baked daily and has this beautiful brown crusty exterior with the soft and fluffy interior. Definitely a “yes” for bread lover like me. =) 
If you still have the tummy space after the bread bowl, you can consisder trying the gelato from Giovanni L. They have quite a few interesting flavours such as Eggnog, Kinder Bueno, Spiced Chai tea and many others. A single scoop from the classic flavour would set you back at $4.90 while a premium flavour would cost you $5.90 per scoop.

Anyone who think that Nandos is all about roasted chicken and peri peri sauce, it is time to revisit Nandos. With 20 new items added to the menu during the last Quarter of 2015, we can now expect to see wraps, burgers and pita in Nandos. 
Best of all, our vegetarian friends are not being forgotten. There are veggie burger (on its own – $10.90, with 1 regular side – $12.90, with 2 regular sides – $13.90), Roasted Veggie Wrap (on its own – $12.90, with 1 regular side – $14.90, with 2 regular sides – $15.90) and Black Mushroom & Halloumi Wrap (on its own – $12.90, with 1 regular side – $14.90, with 2 regular sides – $15.90). Among the three variants, I prefer the wrap as it is easier to eat without creating a mess and the halloumi cheese give it a nice textual bite.
