Media Invite: Chinatown Food Street Super Reunion Dinner

CNY chinatown Singapore
Chinese New Year (CNY) is approaching us in less than a week, what have you planned to do during these period of time. As a chinese, it is a tradition for me to at least go Chinatown once for my CNY shopping, if not to enjoy the CNY light-up features. This year I was very blessed to be invited to a Super Reunion Dinner at the Chinatown Food Street with many other bloggers.

Smacked right at smith street, Chinatown Food Street is a foodie paradise for local delights with seating capacity to over 800!
Best of all, with the newly constructed high-ceiling glass canopy shelter and internal spot cooling system, diners get to enjoy the hawker affair regardless of rain or shine. 😉
How can one miss Yu Sheng (鱼生), a symbol of abundance and prosperity, during CNY? We started with the Yu sheng (Small- $28, Large- $38) from Chinatown Crab Master. Interestingly, there is an instruction menu given to state the steps and the meaning of the Yu Sheng. Personally I find the instructions for the Yu Sheng very useful for tourists to understand the meaning of Yu Sheng better and also for me to know what to say during the Lou Hei ( the act of tossing the Yu Sheng for good luck).

We started the night with some food from various stalls before proceeding to be divided into group of 10 to be engaged in a competitive food trail at the food street. The winning group walked away with a pair of trick eye museum tickets for each team members.

Although my team did not win the food trail, I had fun looking for food among hawker stalls which take form of street carts. I was actually kinda happy that food located all over Singapore can be found at the food street. At least, I know where can I go if I want to satisfy my craving from several different part of Singapore. Chinatown Food Street would be my one stop solution and dishes are priced from $2.50 up. 😉
Good news is Chinatown Food Street is now opened til 2am daily until 18 Feb and business resume on 20 Feb from 11am onwards. On top of that, from now till 3rd March, spend $10 in a single receipt and get a 20% discount voucher off Trick Eye Museum admission tickets. Psssssss.. if you happen to see this friendly man in red and let him to ask you a simple question, you could walk away with an Ang Bao Voucher Pack which includes perks from 10 stalls. 🙂
