Suntec City has recently gone through a revamp and Kuishin Bo has re-opened its door at its first ever nesting ground after the facelift. Kuishin Bo which means food connoisseur has been providing a staggering line of Japanese items from sashimi to sushi to yakitori and agemono (grilled and fried food) for the past 15 years. Located at the new north wing of Suntec City, Kuishin Bo boasts an interior modelled after the retro izakayas (casual bars) and alleyways of Japan during the Showa period (1926 to 1989). I am blessed to be invited for a media tasting on the revamped ground.
Besides offering a variety of Japanese items for the adult, kids are not forgetten at Kuishin Bo. There is a Kids Haven corner which is exclusive to the Suntec outlet. A spread of kids- friendly items such as Chicken Ragout Spaghetti, Chicken Karaage and Curry Cream Baked Rice are spotted at the thoughfully-designed low counters. There are also a popcorn machine and a DIY ice kacang area for the kids to enjoy after having the mains.
For the adults, the regular buffet spread also boast more than 100 evergreen favorites across the 7 sections (Salads & Appetizers, Sushi, Sashimi, Seafood, Teppanyaki, Paper Hot Pot, Fried Food, Soups and Desserts).
During dinner hours, there is free flow of Zuwaigani (snow crabs) and an hourly “specials” of limited quantities of items such as abalone, Japanese desserts and more. So keep an ear out for the “dong dong dong” bell which alerts the guests of the hourly special!
Desserts lovers, please keep a space for your desserts. The dessert display is filled with assorted tarts, cakes, biscuits, ice cream and a beguiling ‘waterfall’ of chocolate fondue! Personal fav is the pillow-soft peanut mochi! With a balanced of sweetness, filling and chewy glutinous rice cake, this is homemade dessert at its best. Kuishin Bo has these mochi made fresh on a daily basis!
Every quarter, there is also a thematic food fairs that showcase gastronomic highlights from different regions in Japan. From now till 27 September, diners get to enjoy over 20 seasonal items from Kyushu and Okinawa on top of the existing extensive buffet spread. All Kyushu and Okinawa fair items are available daily both lunch (11.30am to 3pm) and dinner (5.30pm to 10pm). As part of the thematic fairs, special events such as Mochi Tsuki (rice cake pounding ceremony) and doughnut making demonstrations will be held every Saturday and Sunday, where diners get to hands on and sample the delicious, freshly-made treats.
