Ageing gracefully has always been my goal as I do want to look good with every birthday passed. However, due to my laziness, I have realised that my skin has deteriorated a lot. The lack of skin radiance as well as dry and sagging skin have been bugging me. Hence, I have decided to visit Halley Medical Aesthetics as I have good result from my Ultherapy treatment previously.

As a curious and careful person when it comes to aesthetic, I have also asked Dr Mark Lim a lot of questions. Here are what went down:
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is an injectable anti-ageing treatment available in Singapore containing slow release Hyaluronic Acid (HA) that is formulated to increase the volume and elasticity in the skin. The treatment also helps to stimulate collagen and elastin production which in turn improve skin tone, hydration and the appearance of fine lines.
Is there anything that I have to take note of before the Profhilo treatment?
Before the treatment, you should avoid taking supplements such as fish oil, multivitamins or vitamin E and any blood thinners like aspirin and other anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen or Aleve, for at least a day beforehand. These can increase the likelihood of excess bleeding or bruising during/after the treatment.
What are the benefits of Profhilo?
Profhilo helps to improve skin tone, texture, hydration and overall radiance. Hence, you will see your skin having more firmness and elasticity.
How is Profhilo used?
Due to its deep hydration capability and its ability to boost collagen and elastin levels, Profhilo can be injected to the lower face and neck for:
– Lifting and firming sagging skin.
– Smoothening fine lines and wrinkles.
– Hydrating dull, aged, and dry skin to achieve healthier looking skin.
How long does the result lasts?
The result usually lasts up to 6 months.
How long does it takes to see the result?
The effect usually takes place within 3-5 days of treatment.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is usually quite painless as numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area before the treatment starts.
Is there any risk in doing Profhilo?
Profhilo is free of chemical cross-linking compounds traditionally needed to stabilise HA. Hence, it minimises any potential hypersensitive reaction to the Profhilo treatment.
How does it work?
The treatment requires a unique application technique where Profhilo is injected to specific points on the face and neck to achieve the desired result. This technique avoids areas with large blood vessels or nerve branches, minimising the chance of bruising.
To achieve results, two treatments spaced one month apart are required. It can also be combined with other synergistic treatments like Ultherapy, rejuvenating lasers , and dermal fillers to enhance the volumising and lifting effect, as well as improve skin tone and texture.
What are the Post treatment care?
As Profhilo is a minimally invasive, no downtime treatment, minimal post treatment care is required.
Is there any downtime?
The downtime is usually minimal, and normal daily activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure.
However, it is recommended to avoid strenuous activities and exercise on the first day after the treatment.
Is there any side effects?
Like any aesthetic treatments, there is a risk of side-effects, such as minor bruising or swelling at the injected areas. These will generally subside quickly in the next few days.
Can I do Profhilo if I am pregnant?
Profhilo is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or allergic to Hyaluronic Acid.
Are Profhilo and fillers the same?
While both treatments contain Hyaluronic Acid, as compare to dermal fillers, Profhilo doesn’t add volume or change the structure of the face. Instead, Profhilo acts more like an intense moisturiser to hydrate the skin and make it supple.
How much is Profhilo treatment?
The treatment cost $980 for 1 session (price includes GST)
This is me without makeup 1 month after Profhilo treatment. Look at the radiance on my skin, it is crazy. It is so effortless and I have not done anything different except for the treatment.
I can safely say that Profhilo is a treatment to go to if you want to maintain your collagen “reserve” in the skin. Nothing has changed since the treatment except that I have a glowing skin and no longer worry about how dehydrated my skin look. In fact, it is a common sight of me going out without any makeup.
What I really like about Profhilo is it is a treatment that you can do during lunch without anyone realising any difference on you as there is minimal downtime. I looked exactly the same except for some redness which didn’t stay longer than a few hours after the treatment. On top of that, it is not even painful after applying the numbing cream. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking at maintaining your youth as it is a good preventive anti-ageing treatment that one can start even as young as in your 20s.
