Nested in a quiet corner in Serangoon Ave 4, The Plain Jane Cafe is not plain at all. This quaint little cafe is decorated with a lot of vintage items which are the personal collection of the young pretty owner, Jane. A friend even commented that this place is made for instagram OOTD (outfit of the day).
Though the cafe is not anywhere near the mrt station, it is not as inaccessible as you might think. Simply take bus 43 or 70 at the bus stop (B66351) outside serangoon MRT station (exit B) and you will reach Plain Jane within 10 minutes.
The menu spotted here is simple and straightforward with the focus on artisanal Japanese swiss rolls.
I was rather elated when I spotted ETTE TEA being served here. ETTE TEA is a local gourmet tea brand who has very interesting tea flavours specially concocted. Some examples of the selection are Nasi Lemak, Panda Chiffon Tea and Mango Sticky Rice.
You can also grab a bite or two with the light meals ($8.90 – $12.90) available. We have all heard of lemon honey drink, Jane brings it to another level with orange honey drink. I like how it is both refreshing and delicious.
We had Lemon Yogurt Loaf ($4.90) as it was recommended by Jane. Although it is not too sweet and has a beautiful citrusy finish, I prefer it to be more light and fluffy. 
On a rotational basis, Plain Jane Swiss Rolls ($4.90) and Not so Plain Swiss Rolls ($5.90) with flavours are served. I was drawn by the Matcha Swiss roll and Thai Milk Tea Swiss Roll that I have skipped the Plain Jane Swiss Roll. Well, it was indeed a decision that made it worthy for every of my calories. The sponge was soft and fluffy with the light and nicely aerated cream. Best part, the sweetness is just nice. Indeed, like any Japanese bakes, they left me craving for more. 
If you are looking for a cafe that can immediately made you feel at home and relaxed, this is the place. With such an interesting vintage interior deco, it is not hard to fall in love with this place again and again. The Plain Jane Cafe is not that plain after all.
