In my honest opinion, ageing is not something scary as we age we tend to gain experience in life and handle things better. But like most people, I fear for the signs of ageing. While ageing is inevitable, I wanted to age gracefully, minimising the loss of collagen/ fats/ water in my skin. After hearing so much about Skin Booster Treatment, a facial skin rejuvenation treatment, that is very popular in Korea and Taiwan, I have decided to pay Dr Liu from Centre for Cosmetic Rejuvenation and Surgery a visit to know more about it.
So what is Skin Booster 水光针 treatment?
It is actually an injectable treatment that contains hyaluronic acid, a moisture-binding ingredient that is presented in our body to keep our skin smooth and youthful. Not only does it promises to improve collagen reproduction and restore hydration in the skin by retaining moisture below our skin, it is said to improve the skin quality by minimising pores, fine lines and scars! Hence, resulting in a more radiant, healthy and supple skin with better elasticity. In short, Skin Booster Treatment turns back the clock and give you diong diong skin!
What are the side effects?
Skin Booster Treatment is generally safe as Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like water holding molecule that our body contain naturally. So rarely, it causes any allergic reactions. However, as the procedure is done with multiple tiny injections on the face, varies from different individual, some people might suffer from some bruising after the procedure. However, it can be easily covered up with make-up. Yes, you can apply make-up IMMEDIATELY after the treatment. For some people, like me, it is common to suffer from some bumpiness as it is afterall a kind of filler. But it will even out after the filler settled.
Is it painful?
Before the procedure, numbing cream will be applied so no worries about the level of pain. In my honest opinion, it felt like ant- bites while the needle is poked into the skin and thereafter I don’t experience much discomfort.
What is the duration of the Skin Booster Treatment?
For me, it was about 10 to 15 minutes and I even attended an event after that. Yes, it is like one of those beauty lunch appointment that you can do any day.
How often do you need to go for Skin Booster Treatment?
Dr Liu from Centre for Cosmetic Rejuvenation and Surgery mentioned that the result might vary for individual. But for the initial treatments, it is best to have a few sessions about one month apart for a more satisfactory result. Thereafter, it can be done a few months after as a form of maintaining that anti-Ageing effect.
Who is suitable for Skin Booster Treatment?
If you ask me, I would think that anyone who wants to look pretty and have a more youthful and radiant skin, should at least try this once. But according to Dr Liu from Centre for Cosmetic Rejuvenation and Surgery, Skin Booster treatment works best for people with matured, dehydrated, dull skin, or people with large pores or scars.
How do I feel about the Skin Booster Treatment?
To be frank, I was kinda scared when I decided to do Skin Booster Treatment as it was my first time doing it. However, as this is not my first time doing any aesthetic treatment with Dr. Liu, I know I was in good hands. Throughout the procedure, Dr Liu has made it so much easier by chatting with me and there was also a clinic assistant who helped by distracting me by tapping on my shoulder/ face.
What I really like about Skin Booster Treatment is there is basically minimal downtime and the result is almost immediate! Although there were a few pin-prick marks, there was minimal bruising on my face. I could even attended an event immediately after the procedure. As all of us know, Hyaluronic acid has superb hydrating effect and helps to lock in more than a 1000 times its weight of moisture within the cells of the skin. Hence, my skin looks very dewy after the treatment. Twin even commented on how my face has this glowing radiant!
I have also noticed that my fine lines on my forehead are reduced and my skin looks brighter and more radiant!
Hence this is definitely a treatment that I would want to embark on for my anti-ageing quest. Afterall, who doesn’t like smoother, supple and a more youthful skin, right?
