Cocobolo Poolside Bar + Grill, Park Hotel Clarke Quay

Cocobolo Poolside Bar + Grill, Park Hotel Clarke QuayYazawa Yakiniku is my favourite go-to place for meat, but in order to prevent myself from filing bankruptcy one day, I try to look for alternatives.
20 metres away literally, at Cocobolo Poolside Bar and Grill at Park Hotel Clarke Quay is one of Singapore’s most affordable BBQ meat buffets.

Like an oasis for relaxation tucked away at a cosy corner of the bustling city, the Pool is not only popular with local and foreign guests alike, the adjacent pool side BBQ also attracted a fair share of diners, especially with its quaint environment during sunset.

I do enjoy the live grilling station where we get to select from an endless choices of seafood and meats from various cuts. From this Friday (September 30th) Cocobolo will take one step further with an expanded menu of premium meats like the US Baby Black Ribs, Australian Rack of Lamp and the New Zealand Angus Striploin.
If you prefer your meat to be done in a certain way, the chefs are more than obliging to your requests which was what I did when I asked for the New Zealand Angus Striploin to be grilled medium rare.

The 100 gram of steak was a little firm but texture certainly not qualified as sinewy. It was not as juicy as I thought it would be but the piquant flavours of the meat was lovely and the black pepper sauce did lend umami to the steak.

What fared better were the Grilled Chicken, the Turmeric-Laced Arrow Squid, Grilled Mackerel Fish in Banana Leaf and Cajun-spiced Tiger Prawns. These items managed to retain their juices, yet with the right charred smokiness that a good Barbeque should entails.

I skipped the uninspiring canapés/ salad bar and headed right to the desserts section. While the section did not offer too much of a selection, the excellent Caramelised Pear Tart and the Apple Crumble Pie was more than enough to line that remaining stomach space, after all that carnivorous devouring.
