When I saw those oozy cheese sandwiches from Comida on instagram, I have immediately pinned it down on my Google map. Hence, when I realise I am staying in Amba in Zhongshan, I was so happy.
Located within 2 minutes walk from AMBA in Zhongshan, Comida looks just like an ordinary Taiwanese breakfast outlet. However, what make this place so unique is that they charcoal grill their toast and marinate the pork chop in house instead. Oh yes, how can I forget that they use organic eggs as well!
There are only a few tables available. If you are early (we went at about 9am), you might be lucky enough to grab a table.
First thing first, remember to take a menu which is placed at the side of the frontage of the shop. One of the thoughtful gesture on the menu that sets Comida apart from other breakfast outlets is you can choose how you like the eggs to be done (medium for people who wanted their yolk to be slightly runny or well done if you prefer a fully cooked yolk).
Simply mark the items that you want to order and place the order at the cashier.
If you can’t decide what to order, there are also pictures of some of the signature dishes at the frontage of the shop.
As everything is cooked upon order, be prepared to wait for a while before your food arrive. But not to worry, drinks order arrived quite swiftly.
After about 15 minutes, our Pork Egg Sandwich ($59NT, est. $2.80 SGD) arrived. We love how moist the marinated pork was and all the components complemented one another. Simple comfort food! Yes, it was so good that we ordered another serving despite the need to wait for another 15 minutes or more for it!
If you are dining in, don’t forget to order the Pork Egg Sandwich with Quadruple Cheese. The oozy cheese stacks consists of 4 types of cheese which include cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese, flavourful and satisfying! Though eating this stacko can be a little bit challenging. Not to worry, Comida has you covered by providing disposable gloves!
If you are looking at visiting Comida, do try to avoid peak hours, which are around lunch time, or call in to preorder to skip the long waiting time. =)
