One of my live live must eat whenever I travel to the Land of Thousands Smiles, Thailand, is Mango Sticky Rice aka Khaoniao mamuang. This Thai dessert made of using glutinous sticky rice and coconut milk is a major dope for me as they are coupled with juicy and sweet slices of mango! Hence, without fail, I went for another mango sticky rice hunt in Bangkok again.
38 Street Food Court is located near Thong Lo BTS and it is less than 3 minutes walk for the station. Simply turn right when you come out of the control station where you will see the “KAMU” shop. From the walkway down the stairs, you can easy spot 38 Street Food Court.
Ning Sister Mango Sticky Rice is the second stall on the left of the entrance of 38 Street Food Court.
Ning Sister Mango Sticky Rice is not the only stall that sells mango sticky rice in Thong Lo. In fact, there is another mango sticky rice stall just across the street. But this is the only stall selling this delicious thai dessert in 38 Street Food Court.
There are 3 sizes to choose from with prices that are easy to the pocket.
The first time I went, I got the “M” ones (80 baht) which was a very decent portion of 1 mango and some sticky rice.
I like how the glutinous sticky rice was sweet yet savory with a beautiful aroma of fresh coconut milk. It was such a delight having it with the mango slices.
Oh yes, don’t forget to try the Thai Satay when you are at 38 Street Food Court.
For $6 baht per stick, you get to choose whether you want chicken or pork satay.
While we liked how the chicken and pork satay were juicy, moist and flavourful, I am not a huge fan of the satay sauce which was on a sweet side. Nevertheless, I was happy having these well seasoned meat skewers without the sauce.
There was also a Thai Tze Char stall located just beside Ning Sister Mango which was rather popular with their Pad Thai. I have even seen a Japanese article featuring them.
I like how the Pad Thai was not overly sweet and have a nice smokiness aka wok hei in those springy noodles. Although it is not the best Pad Thai that I have ever tasted, it was definitely one of the better ones.
There are also ample of seatings in sheltered area which is good for rainy days. Hence, I would highly recommend this food court to anyone who is looking for a cheap and good Thai street food in Thong Lor area.
