Cafe hopping: Maison Ikkoku Cafe @ Kandahar Streetw

Located at a quieter part of Kampong Glam area, I am quite surprised that Maison Ikkoku Cafe is as packed as the other cafes located nearer to Bugis MRT.

The cafe is lit with orange lighting which gives a very cosy and relaxing vibe. However the interesting usage of door-turned-table at some seating is not too practical IMO as the uneven “table top” makes it rather difficult to balance the dishes served.

Beside having some really pretty latte art, the coffee (Latte – $5) here tastes as good as it looks. It is smooth and well balanced. Definitely some very decent coffee served here. 😉
For people who prefer single origins coffee, there are also different brewing methods, Aeropress ($6), V60 pour over ($6), cold drip ($6), Chemex ($7) and Syphon ($7), available.
There is a also a wide range of tea ($5 to $7 per serving).
Caprese Salad ($16)

With all greens and no meat, this is a rather filling for me. I love the touch of balsamic vinegar that gives it an appetizing punch.

Triple Ham Sandwiches ($16)

One of my friends ordered this and he said it was quite decent and the choice of bread used is tasty.

Spicy Chicken & Cheddar Sandwiches ($14)

I had a bite of the sandwiches from my friend. The cajun chicken chunks are well seasoned! Definitely one of my choice when I hit the cafe again.

Smoked Salmon & Avocado Sandwiches ($16)

The portion of the smoked salmon given is generous and with the rocket & almond salad by the side, it is a completed meal.  😉

Wasabi Egg Sandwiches ($12)

I love this! The wasabi egg mayo is well balanced without too much of the overpowering sensation felt through the nasal passage. Yumz.

Molten Lava Cake ($7.50)

Absolutely spot on, the molten lava cake is not too sweet and the chocolate lava flows. 😉

Red Velvet Cake ($9)

Another of my favourite is the red velvet cake here. It is moist and the overall taste with the cream cheese is simply lovely.

With decent coffee, good variety of yummy food and sinfully desserts, this is definitely one of my fav cafe to go to. Do drop me a comment about how you feel about this cafe if you have visited the cafe before too. 🙂
