Cafe Hopping: Black & Ink @ Changi Road

Along the stretch of Changi road in between MDIS building and Hexacube (Former AIA building), is where Black & Ink is located. It is a new cafe opens by a fellow food blogger Roy and strategically located just in front of a bus stop. About 2 weeks ago, me and Ian cafe hopped to give Roy our support.

Black & Ink is small cafe with about 16 seating and with black and white theme for its deco. What I like about this place is how Roy can transform this small little space into a cosy little corner.
The house blend, From The Heart, is a coffee blend with Organic Ethiopian Amaro Gayo and Colombian Excelso Timana. I had latte ($5) and it is served in a bodum glass which is rather rare in Singapore cafe scene, perhaps due to costing. What I love about bodum glass is it is double walled and it has fantastic insulating quality. This allows me to enjoy my cuppa without feeling too much heat from hot beverage on my fingers.
Coffee is best paired with cakes. We had the carrot cake and jasmine green tea honey cake. Between the 2, my vote goes to the carrot cake. Unlike the carrot cake elsewhere , it is packed with carrot, cranberries, walnuts and cream cheese giving it more texture as u savor it. I must say that the baker is generous with her ingredients added. 😉
As I slowly and finally venture more to the east, this is one of the cafes in the east serving decent coffee. If you like medium body coffee with a good acidity and dark chocolate finish, you will like this place. What is a better way than to laze an afternoon away with a cuppa and a friendly barista. 😉
