YOLO, Put The Fun Back Into Healthy Eating

Have you ever tried going on a healthy diet? To be frank, more than often I failed terribly. I started to wonder if healthy food means it is going to be either too bland or too boring? Hence, I was skeptical about the food served at YOLO which is located at 12 Gopeng Street.

Building on a simple concept of choosing your preferred ingredients and create your own meal, YOLO has already won half of my heart. All you need to do is to calculate your required daily calories intake using the calories calculator on YOLO’s website, and the rest is up to your creativity for BYO (Build Your Own) meal.

For Proteins, some of my favourites are Tom Yum Tilapia, Basil Minced Chicken and Marinated Salmon. I like how the Tom yum tilapia is not too spicy. Although the basil minced chicken is of a drier version, it is not as oily as those served at Thai restaurants and it goes well with the Brown Rice. For those who like salmon, the marinated salmon is pretty good too. It is cooked perfectly!

For sides, I would recommend the Brown Basmati Rice with Spiced Kimchi Salad. The Spiced Kimchi Salad is flavoursome and high in Vitamin A. Together with Brown Basmati Rice, it keeps me full for a long while. There were also a wide selection of interesting sauces to go with your meal, such as Coriander Lime, Chilli, Miso, Pesto, Vinaigrette or Cucumber Dill Yogurt.

If you are not in the mood to build your own meal, you can always opt for YOLO’s signature dishes. Arnie’s Meatballs with Pasta & Eggplants and Coconut Chicken with Brown Rice & Veggies are some of the popular mains available.

For those who are looking for something light, you can build your own Acai Bowl or try the Avocado Bombshell which can be very filling too.
