Monti’s April Promotion – A lunch promotion that shouldn’t be missed!

Celebrating Monti’s first anniversary this April, Monti’s Head Chef, Felix Chong has curated an exclusive anniversary lunch menu that is available throughout April 2018! Not only is this 3course menu easy on the pocket at $48++ per pax, with every paying adult, one gets to dine for FREE!

Besides the Monti’s 1st anniversary lunch set which includes a choice of Pan Seared White Cod or 48 Hours Sous Vide Beef Short Rib, there was also a vegetarian option available! Even if you are on diet, please do not miss the housemade Onion & Thyme Sea Salt Bread Roll that was served with House Smoked Nori Butter infused with sesame & seaweed Furikake. The bread was soft and fluffy with a golden flaky crust that made it such a delight to start the meal with. The aroma of onion and thyme were aerated and accentuated with every bite!

For starter, Monti’s signature Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallop was served with celeriac puree, porcini mushroom, chestnut and truffle caviar. This starter was a medley of flavours and textures. I was really impressed by how smooth the celeriac puree was and the aroma of this acquired taste roots wasn’t overpowering.

The main came with a choice of Pan Seared White Cod or Braised Beef Short Ribs. Wrapped with Parma ham, the white cod was good on its own, one of my dining partner even commented that it was the first time that she actually fell in love with this flaky white fish. The sauces that accompanied have flavours that were worlds apart. Smoked almond Romesco sauce was tangy, creamy and smooth while the Squid ink potato puree was savoury and slightly grainy with a burst of flavours!
Braised Beef Short Ribs was super soft, tender and flavourful. In fact, the beef was so tender that it can be gently tear apart without even using a knife. The asparagus, and Brussel sprout were soft yet firm enough to give the dish a crunchy bite. Overall, I like how there were layers of flavours and textures that came fore for the mains.

From the vegetarian menu, the burrata cheese starter was mind blowing! The Burrata cheese was light and soft. Served with the sweet yet savoury Sicilian eggplant caponata together with heritage tomato, which was brined with sour plum juice, it was a very refreshing starter to whet the appetite.

One can chooose from the Acquerello Risotto or the House made Tagliatelle. The texture of the Tagliatelle was neither too al denta nor soggy with the thinness of the pasta that was so perfect that each of them were beautifully coated with that tangy Roma Tomato sauce. But what captivated me and my dining partner was the Acquerello Risotto! The risotto was aged for at least a year after passing through the 20 processing and selection steps which made the starch more stablised and flavourful. Hence, no cream was added during the cooking of this risotto. Chef Felix also used bella lodigiano aka Black Parmesan to give the al denta risotta that full body flavour without being too sharp nor salty. Every spoonful was so highly addictive that it was hard not to lick the plate clean!

The meal ended on a sweet note with a Spiced Red Wine Poached Pear. Unlike the poached pear I had before, the ones at Monti has a nice crunch to it and the pairing with Red wine jelly, Vanilla gelato, and Crème chantilly also complemented with each other. Hence, ending this luncheon on a high note!

If a 3 course luncheon at $48++ and another diner gets to dine for free doesn’t appeal to you, I bet the magnificent panoramic views of Marina Bay waterfront at Monti would definitely let you have a second thought.
