Long Chim’s New Menu

Helmed by renowned Celebrity Chef David Thompson, Long Chim (which means ‘Come and Taste’ in Thai), is a place where the traditional Bangkok street food meets with contemporary flavours. Upon walking into the restaurant, you will see interior mimic after the foodmarkets of Bangkok with live kitchen stations where you can observe how your food is prepared in front of you.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-5

Chiang Mai Larp of Chicken with Northern Spices and herbs ($16), Long Chim’s take on the classic Chiang Mai Larp. Oh my tian, this was one of the most spicy dishes that we have tried. However it is very addictive as well. If you like spicy food, do give it a try. It is hot hot hot.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016

Remember to go with a glass of Thai Milk Tea to ease the heat from the Chiang Mai Larp. Just like what one of my fellow diner shared, you can’t see it but you can definitely feel it!

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-8

Crunchy Prawn Cakes Herbs Shallots and Chillies is one of the dishes that my fellow diners jokingly said would go well with a mug of beer. How I agreed with that! Remember to squeeze that lime for a tangy touch to the crunchy prawn cakes.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-12

Baked Prawns with Glass Noodles ($30), one of my favourite dish of the night as I am totally a glass noodle person. The glass noodle was springy, pepperish and full of flavours. Love love!

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-13

Green Curry of Chicken Thai Eggplant and Chillies ($24) was a hot favourite around the table. The thick coconut gravy is rich and intense with small chucks of tender chicken pieces which make eating so much easier. Give me a bowl of rice, please. I bet it will be a perfect marriage.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-14

Grilled Long Eggplant with Dried Prawns and Steamed Egg ($24) is surprisingly one of the live live must order dish for me if I ever return. The eggplant is cooked to perfection without making it overly mushy. The flavoursome dish just make any resistance for second helping futile. Oh yes, please mix the runny yolk with the grilled eggplant for a full gastronomic party in your mouth.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-15

The cat in me delighted with this Tilapia in Salt Crust ($34). Super yummy! A perfectly rendition of a succulent fish baked in salt crust! The freshness of the fish helped as well. You can bet on your last dollar on this dish to impress your date who loves to eat fish.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-16

Tom Yum Super Chicken Wing and Feet with Lemongrass Lime and Chilli ($25) was one of the dishes that I was looking forward to. Who doesn’t like Tom Yum soup, right? A good tom yum soup is simply alluring for any thai food lover. Featuring red snapper, this dish is seasoned with turmeric along with other more traditional ingredients like galangal, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. I would like it to be more spicy but the level of tanginess is just nice for me. yum!

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-18

Surprisingly, Siamese Watercress Garlic and Yellow Beans ($16) was really well executed! Not the usual kang kong dish that we have at the Tze Char Stall, there is no sambal belacan. But I love the wok hei from this dish! Just order this la. Enough said!

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-19

Beware of the peppercorn while having this Baby Squid Chillies Green Peppercorns and Holy Basil ($26). I like how the squid was cooked just right and the gravy was packed with unmami. This got me thinking if skipping rice in my diet was a good idea.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-22

One of my fellow diner hated this dish, Banana Roti ($12). I am not a huge fan of banana too but the crispy and sweet layers of the pastry does has its magic on me.

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-23

Pandanus Layer Cake ($12) has a similiar taste to our local 9 layers kueh but without that beautiful layers of rainbow colours. A tad too expensive in my opinion but Long Chim is definitely not any other thai eatery, isn’t it?

Long Chim Anniversary 2016-17

Although the dishes served were quite heavy handed with salt, I thought that with a bowl of rice, it might be just nice. Good news to celebrate Long Chim’s first anniversary, Long Chim has a special menu where full portions of authentic Thai street food & Thai-inspired cocktails are available at just $9++ each, all day on Wednesday 30th March (from 12pm – 12am).
