Singaporean breakfast at Lobby Lounge

As much as Shangri-la Hotel is not the most accessible place to go to if you are not driving, it is always a joy to go to Shangri-la Hotel Lobby Lounge for its lunch buffet as it is both affordable and feature a list of local favourites. Hence, I was very excited when I got to know that the hotel has recently launched the weekend semi-buffet from 7am to 11am!!!

While the variety on the buffet line was not as extensive as the one during lunch, one could easily spot local favourites such as mee siam, longtong with sayur loden, beef serunding, fried glutinous rice, kaya toast and even Tiong Bahru Jian Bo Shui Kueh’s signature Shui Kueh!!! Oh yes, not forget Harrianns’s Yam Cake and Lina’s Confectionary’s Kueh Lopes with gula melaka syrup!!!

There are 6 dishes that are available as a choice on the semi-buffet as well as ala carte. Nasi Lemak ($19) from The Coconut Club, Roti Prata ($12) from Springleaf Prata Place with classic Indian vegetarian curry and fish curry, Carrot Cake ($12) from Lobby Lounge’s Chef Yong Jia’s grandmother recipe, Cry Wanton Mee ($14) from Shang Palace’s Chinese Executive Chef Mok Kit Keung accompanied by a bowl of flavourful pork and shrimp dumpling soup or soft boiled egg with kaya toast ($12) with homemade kaya but my personal favourite is the carrot cake.

The drop down ceiling with natural lighting pouring was such a welcoming sign. Priced at $29.50 with a lovely vibes, air conditioned and comfy seating, I really don’t mind spending my weekend morning at Shangri-La Lobby Lounge with a couple of good friends catching up over the local breakfast delights. Though it was 9am when I arrived with J, the Lobby Lounge was relatively packed. So, remember to make your table reservation if you are heading down.
